Her smile was a
thousand golden sunrises. Her eyes were a
million dark sunsets. It wasn't hard to get
her to sit with me.
All I had to do was
flash her a look. She giggled at whatever
nonsense I had told her."You're not as bad as people say you are,"
she spoke to me effortlessly. If only she knew.
"You're not so bad yourself."
I winked at her.More giggles.
A sickness suddenly swept
over me. I looked at the floor."Are you okay?"
Her hand touched the top of mine."I don't know,"
I mumbled.Her words sounded genuine.
"You can talk to me if you want to."I shook my head.
"I think I should go."I began to push my chair back,
but she grabbed my arm first."You don't have to."
Her sunrise smile
covered her entire face.I hesitantly relaxed back into my seat.
"So where were we?"
She leaned forwards,
using her hands to prop
up her fragile face. She was beautiful.
I listened to her talk and
tell me stories to the best
of my abilities, but my head
wouldn't stop repeating the
same words over and over.It was hard to concentrate
with the sentence banging
against my skull.I knew my thoughts were correct, though.
I couldn't have her.
She deserved better.I got up quickly the next time,
so she couldn't pull me back down. She stopped mid-sentence
to look at me with confusion.I walked out of the door
with the same thought on my mind.Don't let her fall for you.
