Note: the pronunciation of Xeronitana is zerron-i-tana... whew, good luck pronouncing that 😅In the year 897X, in the Capital City of Xeronitana, the sound of bells resonated thorough out the city. News of the passing of the new baby princess spread like wildfire, the residents rushing back and forth brought upon by the shock of the news. As the residents chattered and mourned at the death, a cloaked figure snuck between the crowds, using the shadows the rising dawn created to remain unnoticed. The cloaked figure sneaked out of the cities east gates and walked out toward the North-Eastern Forest. Walking along a hidden path covered in snow, the stranger continued walking North-East until he reached a small village hidden near the edge of the forest. Looking around, the stranger quickly walked toward a young oak tree and laid his load gently within the roots.
"I'm sorry I can't do anything more for you but this is all I can do." The stranger says sadly as they gently press their lips to the baby's forehead.
After ensuring the fur blanket was wrapped tightly, the stranger walked back the way he came.
Once the baby was completely alone, it started to cry. This went on for about an hour before a man, huddled in his cloak, came over to investigate. Looking around the roots of the young oak, he was shocked to see a baby.
"What are you doing here little one?" The man says as he picks up the baby and cuddles her within his cloak.
"I don't know where you're from or why you were left out here but I can't just leave you." He says with a gentle voice, "so I'm gonna take you home and show you to my wife."
In reply, the baby gurgled and laughed making a smile appear on the man's face. After a 5 minute walk, the man reached his house and walked inside to the smell of cooking. Taking off and setting aside his cloak, the man walks into the kitchen, the baby now sleeping peacefully in his arms.
"Welcome home De..." my wife says, stopping mid-speech as she turns to see the child sleeping in my arms.
"Where did you get the baby? Better yet, why have you got a baby?" She asks flustered, as she takes the baby from my arms and cradling her close.
"I found her in the roots of a tree on my way back. There was no note or any sign of anyone being there so I decided to bring her home."
"That's terrible!" she exclaims to me before talking to the baby, "it's alright now, we'll look after you. You will become our precious little Annora."
