"How was your day?"
I open my mouth.

Today, I fell.
Breaking
Without privacy,
Makeup dripping my cheeks.

I hid, tears on my face.

And they came after me.

Brought me comfort.
Held me.
Listened to my troubles
With words
Like tissues.

I was beautiful.
Empathetic.
Sensitive.
Kind.

Not once
"You're so smart."

I knew then.
I am more.

They pulled me back together.
With duct tape compliments
And mortar to my crumbling brick.

"How was your day?"
I open my mouth,
And close it again.

Today stays with me.
