CINDER:
Cinder sat at her room's balcony, gazing at the stars. She gripped her port screen so tightly that her knuckles became white. Her internal clock read:
9:32 pm
Kai said he would video chat at 9:30.
Stars, Cinder, it's two minutes difference. He can just call tomorrow. He has a country to run... and so do you!
Ugh. Annoyed at herself, Cinder placed the port on the ledge and waited. But just moments later...
Buzz. Buzz.
She grinned. Kai.
It took a few moments for the screen to adjust to Kai's features. It looked like he was sitting at his desk, tired from a long day of work. For a moment, she felt guilty for distracting or disturbing him. He looked like he was in need of a long sleep. Kai sighed and grinned, like he was already home, in bed. His face was made up of relief. Relief at seeing her? No, that seemed self-absorbed to think... He was just relieved to get off work.
Cinder knew the feeling.
Even on an unflattering camera, Kai was still good looking.
"Hey, Cinder. Stars, I'm so glad to see you." His grin widened. Maybe no so self-absorbed.
"Hi, Kai." She spoke softly, smiling
"What are you doing?" Kai's eyes widened.
"I'm looking at the stars. I finally got away from being a Queen for a couple hours..." Cinder paused, her brow knotted. Kai was walking now, almost running.
"What are you doing?" She chuckled.
"I'm going up to my chambers. Where I'm going to sit at my balcony..." Cinder didn't think his grin could become any larger now, "... And look at the stars with you."
She smiled, flattered. "Kai, you don't need t-"
"No, I really want to. I need a break, too."
Cinder found herself doing something that was just plain... crazy. Well, for her. She giggled.
...Cinder! You sound like a raccoon!
... I can't stop laughing, he's such a dork! Breathe... just breathe.

Cinder's eyes gradually glided up toward the sky again; though the domes glimmered above her, she could still see though them. Earth was far, far away in the distant horizon and it made her heart ache. So far away.
Her attention snapped back to the port, watching as Kai reached his chambers and made his way out to the balcony.
Even after his grin won her over, he sat down and...
GLIDED HIS HANDS THROUGH HIS HAIR.
I'm so lucky I can't blush.
"Hey! I can see Luna!" Kai's eyes widened with somewhat childish awe.
"Yeah, I can see Earth. And you know, somewhere down there... there's a dorky cinnamon roll..."
Kai blushed.
"...named Leonardo Dicaprio. I wish he were alive in our time."
"Ohhh, I love Titanic!"
"THERE WAS ROOM ON THAT DOOR!" Cinder laughed.
"You know they filmed most of that movie in a kiddie pool?!"
"What?! No..."
"Mmm-huh"
Their eyes didn't even move slightly: they were too focused on each other... well, the moon and the Earth.
"Cinder..." Kai whispered, barely reaching her speakers.
"Kai..." she smiled.
"I love you to the moon and back."
She sighed... unable to find the words to describe her shock.
"You dork. Egh, stars, I can taste the cheese!"
Kai chuckled.
"I love you too, you know. But if you... smother me with cheese..." her eyes glinted.
"The moon will be made of cheese."
"Haha."
They sat there, gazing at their horizons.
It will work out. I'll get a happily ever after... it won't be so far away.
"Kai, tell me the story about how the sun loved the moon so much, he died every night to let her breathe."
...

Oh well! This was my first piece and I don't think anyone will read it but it was fun to write soooo....
