Act one Scene 1
(SCENE: VERONICA's bedroom. Sunday. She is on her computer. A clock on the upstage wall reads 6:00pm. GREGORY enters. He watches her for a moment and then closes the doors. VERONICA closes her laptop.)
GREGORY:
(Putting his hands up)
I come in peace.
VERONICA:
What's up, Greg?
GREGORY:
No, really.
VERONICA:
What's up, Greg?
GREGORY:
Are you doing homework?
VERONICA:
Yeah, Of course.
GREGORY:
I heard you got busted.
VERONICA:
For what?
GREGORY:
Stealing.
VERONICA:
I didn't steal.
GREGORY:
Mom's mad.
VERONICA:
I didn't do anything.
GREGORY:
Really?
(Pulls out a half drank bottle of orange brand vodka from under a pile of clothing on the dresser.)
VERONICA:
I haven't drank any. She'll get over it.
GREGORY:
(Sitting on the bed)
So, how long you gonna keep this up?
VERONICA:
Well, I got grounded for two weeks so I thought... Why are you here?
GREGORY:
Come on, V.
VERONICA:
Did Ma call you?
GREGORY:
That's not the point. You're acting ridiculous. The rest of the family's starting to talk, V.
VERONICA:
Let them. I had a tough week.
GREGORY:
I had a baby, you really want to complain?
(Opening the bottle to sip)
VERONICA:
Oh boo-hoo for you and your baby mama.
(Getting up to take the bottle. GREGORY makes sure she can't reach it)
