Laying on A Day of Lay

The Day of Lay is a day for laying. No matter who you are, how much money you have, or where you come from, everyone may celebrate on the Day of Lay. Unlike birthdays, or Christmas which create the expectation of presents, the Day of Lay is completely free. No gifts are to be given on the Day of Lay to keep the holiday in its purest form. To many, this sounds discouraging. much like a holiday purely made up to excuse another day of work or school. But in fact, the Day of Lay may be the most accepting of all holidays in that it is accessible to all who have open arms to embrace its ideals.

One may note that such a holiday can not exist for it would be impossible to stop the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And in some ways these people are partially correct. Unlike most holidays that celebrate a big event or have religious ties, the Day of Lay is simply a celebration of a word on a day randomly chosen in the year. So the question arises of "why"? Why should we celebrate virtually nothing? No one is making us. No one will be angry if we do not comply. So, why? The reason why is that someone will be harmed if you do not follow the Day of Lay. That person is you. Not following the Day of Lay will not harm you physically. Even if you lived to be a century old and never followed the Day of Lay once, you'd only have 100 days where everyone else took time away from their daily life to appreciate lay and you didn't. Not even a third of a year. But as human nature has shown before, humans want what others have. Some might say that their whole life goal is to not conform to societies expectations. To them I say enjoy a normal day, while the rest of us enjoy the Day of Lay.

Perhaps the creation of an entirely new holiday might seem like a daunting task to gain support on. But let's say for instance that it only took place in a small town of 100 people. And in this town only one family of 10 celebrated the Day of Lay. Well of course to prevent inbreeding the children of the family would find mates and thus incorporate the Day of Lay into their yearly routine. If it was a small farm based community perhaps they would celebrate the laying of chicken eggs. And that is what is fundamentally so perfect about the Day of Lay. It could be as simple as celebrating a chicken laying eggs. If there were two nations who had been at war and had recently ceased the hostilities both entire nations could celebrate the Day of Lay as an honor to the laying down of the firearms on both sides. If it was in a culture where mass group orgies where accepted the Day of Lay could be set aside to accept the beauty of laying with another or multiple others. The Day of Lay is perfect and pure in every sense because the Day of Lay could adhere to so many facets of human life. In any culture, in any country, with any amount of money, the Day of Lay could be a day where everyone could stop there daily routine and just accept the fact that they are celebrating a completely crap filled made up holiday that really seems deeper than it truly is. Because that's what makes the Day of Lay oh so special.
