"1,2,3 not it!" Everyone squealed, all but one, Jimmy Flatcher, standing there with his finger jammed up his nose. "I was wondering when you'd called an exterminator for that bat cave of a nose you have" I breathed out in relief, earning a few snickers from around us. "Shut up and hide" Jimmy muttered, wiping his hand off on his pants. A grin appeared on my lips as I race off towards the playground, going to my favorite hiding spot, underneath the slide. For some reason I was never found whenever I hid here, I guess it was a blind spot to the rest of the world.

Resting my back on the slide as a closed my eyes, I thought about my birthday that was coming up this weekend, ma said she'd take me and my best friend, Luke, to the water park. All I could think about was the funnel cake there, I had some money saved up from Birthday cards in the past, I'm planning on buying-

"Hey you" my thoughts were cut short when my eyes shot open and looked at a pair of legs in front of me. I looked up and was met with bright hazel eyes, it was the new girl who moved here from California, or maybe Carolina, might of even been Chicago. I shook my head rodding the thought from my head, get ahold of yourself Carter! She's gonna give away your hiding spot!

"What do you think your doing?" I whisper shout at her "can't you see I'm playing hide and seek?" I pull at my hair, clearly being the most stressed out I've ever been in my life.

"Oh god, I have to find an entirely new hiding spot, there goes years of the never being found in hide and seek, there goes my legacy" I tugged at my hair, looking as some strands fell on my hands. I stopped short, a frown finding its way onto my face.

"You've given me grey ha-"

My sentence was cut short as I felt her lips against mine. She backed away, innocent smile and all, my mouth a jar, who just goes and kisses people like that, gosh, talk about bursting my bubble.

"Your the one who's gonna give away your hiding spot if you don't shut your face hole" and with that she walked away, heading towards the swings.

"Yo carter, you listening?" I felt my arm being pinched.

"Ow! Did you just pinch me? What are you, a crab?" I sized him up and down. "Never mind, I'm not gonna try crabs like that" I muttered under my breath as I rubbed my arm.

Luke rolled his eyes as he continued complaining about how his last day of summer was spent being owned by some crazy old lady at the grocery store, but my thoughts were elsewhere.Luke noticed and followed my eyes, letting out a scoff.

"Are you ever gonna stop fantasizing about Rose, what was that, like-" he started counting his fingers, earning a raised eyebrow from me. "That was like 9 years ago bro, you needa let it go" My eyes lit up, not taking anything he was saying, a wide grin made its way to my face as I looked at him. "Stop it" was all I heard before I went into full character and began belching out the lyrics to the critically acclaimed song.

"The snow glows white on the mountain tonight, not a footprint to be seen" I tiptoe to indicate the lack of footprints, grinning ear to ear as I see the look on Luke's face. "A kingdom of isolation, and it looks like I'm the queen, the girl is moaning like the creaking of a tree" Luke's mouth slightly gapes open as he looks at me. "There are children here you egg head" but I just continue on, laughing in between the lyrics.
