I woke up the next morning, having to literally drag myself out of bed and to get changed. I put on my dreary uniform of a black dress, pulling my hair back into a high ponytail and plaiting it.
I waited downstairs for Hope to get ready. She came downstairs with her face, as usual, covered in makeup, her dress too short, and her hair out. I rolled my eyes at her, and she made a face. She grabbed her keys to her car from the front door, walking out. I ran out and closed and locked the door behind me.
I jogged to Hope's pristine-white convertible, hopping into the passenger side throwing my bag in with me.
"Now, let's go over the rules." Hope said, turning down her blasting radio.
"No talking, no contact, no talking about and most definitely no looking." I recited, rolling my eyes. Hope was the 'queen bee' as to say, and I was the quiet, shy girl who kept to herself. No one ever noticed me, and I never noticed anyone, unless they needed help.
"Oh, and don't mention the move."
I hopped out of the car around the corner from the school where Hope dropped me off everyday.
I walked through the school gates ignoring the stares people gave me. As I walked in the front door, some big guys came and spilt the hot chocolate I was drinking all over my school dress.
"Oops, sorry." One of them teasingly laughed. I went to say something, then thought better of it. I didn't want to get noticed, did I? Then again, I only had a week left, why not give it a shot?
I poured the rest of my drink on top of the guy's head.
"Don't be a dick." I said sassily, walking off.
I was at my locker when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around slowly.
"Don't you ever do that him again, or I swear I will rip your head off." Hope hissed at me, getting into my personal space.
I pushed her back slowly. "I'll do it again then."
"I thought you liked to be the quiet girl no one noticed."
"And I thought you didn't like talking to me." I said, grabbing the last of my books and closing my locker with a smirk on my face. "It's my last week, may as well put myself out there if we're leaving."
I walked off to homeroom, leaving Hope standing there with a shocked look on her face.
I got to homeroom, taking a seat in the back of the classroom. I didn't talk to anyone, just pulled out my laptop from my bag and opened my chatroom to see if Drummerboy was on. He wasn't. I sighed, closing my laptop and pulling out my book.
A big hand dangled in front of my eyes on my book. I looked up, raising one eyebrow.
"Payback." The guy said, who I had poured my drink on before. I quickly closed my book, standing up. I managed to stand up just in time, the Coke being poured over my desk almost straight after.
"I thought I said don't be a dick." I said, placing my book down on the next table.
The guy lunged for me, but I quickly dodged out of the way, grabbing his arm and twisting it.
"Doesn't feel too great now, does it?" I say into his ear, letting him go. I sit at the table that I put my book at, pulling my bag over from underneath my previous table.
The guy walked away, rubbing his wrist. I thanked my years of gymnastics and acrobatics for making me so strong, as well as those couple of classes of self-defense I took when I was 12.
