CHAPTER THREE: OUIJA TIME
Paige's POV
The clock said 7:59 but it felt like midnight. Outside was almost as dark as the Colour black. Sydney made sure we knew how to use the board by googling it over and over ever since 7:30. 8:00 read the clock. I glanced over at Sydney who stared back. We both knew it was time to start our plan but we weren't quite sure how we felt about it now that it was finally happening. The silence was so irritating so finally at 8:06 I broke the silence by taking the ouija board out of its wrapping. "Sydney, I know you're scared and so am I, but we can't back down now, we've worked so hard." She nodded her head in agreement it was a small gesture but at least I knew she was in with me on this. Next we each did our jobs. I grabbed our cell phones and shut them off completely then got up and dimmed the lights. All while Sydney was lighting candles in a small circle just big enough for us and the ouija board. We set the board on our knees because we read on google that it was the best position. Sydney was too scared to do anything else so I started us off.

"Hello?" It took about twenty seconds before the spirit replied all it spelt out was a simple hi I asked how many spirits there were and it said one male. He didn't answer my question about his name or the one about if he was good or evil. That's when I started to get suspicious. Considering the look on Sydney's face I could tell she wasn't feeling any better than I was. I decided it would be of our best interest to end the game before something bad happened, so I whispered goodbye as calmly as I could. Instead of agreeing, the board rattled as he spelt out "no, go to the movie theatre playing annabelle or you will both die tonight." The board stopped rattling and went dark. I grabbed the board and threw it across the room and instantly grabbed Sydney into the tightest embrace I could muster. There was only one thing to do but I knew Sydney wouldn't be up for it which meant I had to go alone.

As soon as Sydney was all settled in bed and snoring I knew it was time to leave. I knew the plan I had was dangerous and barely had any chance of success but my mom had always told me to take risks, so that is what I was going to do. I zipped up the leather jacket I borrowed from Sydney's closet pulled up my dark skinny jeans and tied my brown suede boots. Shoving my phone into the back pocket of my jeans I creaked open the door and left Syd's room. Trying to be as quiet as possible I hopped on and slid down the stair railing so the stairs wouldn't creak as I stepped down one at a time. As I crept down the dark gloomy hallway I took a peek into Jane's room. She was sound asleep and snoring almost as loud as Sydney. Before I left I quietly snuck to the the first door on the left (the kitchen). Even at the age of six or almost six I knew it was wrong but I felt like if I was going to survive I might need some cash. I noticed Jane's hot pink, lime green, and black Las Vegas shoulder purse hanging from the closest chair. Inside I found her pure black wallet and took one of her many twenty dollar bills. It was one of the ugly old paper bills but money is money.

In the doorway I stopped and took one last glance at the peaceful house "huuu" I sighed this might be the last time I would see this house. No Paige think positively. Slowly pushing the door open I snuck out breaking the rule of never leaving the house. Little did I know that after tonight none of those rules would matter in the slightest of ways anymore. Just as I was making my way down the cobblestone walkway something weird happened. Just kidding but my phone did vibrate scaring the heeby jeebys out of me. "Oh my god I whispered its him the evil spirit!" I don't know how it shouldn't have been possible but I just got a text from him saying clock is ticking girls. Annabelle starts in five minutes. The only thing stopping me from crying was the fact that I would have to sprint one kilometre in less than five minutes if I wanted to

Four Minutes Twelve Seconds Later.....

I burst through the theatre door only to find everyone staring at the lonely almost six year old who just walked into an R rated movie. Quickly thinking I moaned "sorry I really need to use the potty." I'm pretty sure that's what not genius six year olds say. Oh yes and in case you're wondering Syd and I are both genius' who are currently involved in grade eight. Once inside the bathroom I locked myself in the stall and did the only think I thought would worked I texted the demon back. I'm inside the woman's washroom at the theatre playing Annabelle. Yes I know I can sense you. But there is only one of you. The other will have to suffer. What do you want from me? Before anything else could happen I felt something colder than ice run from my head to my toes. When I spoke, well I couldn't. Unwillingly my body started moving and laughing hysterically and devilishly. If I could've, I would've started to ball. Now I understood why all those rules were set in place, why I've always felt different, why Syd's parents and mine were always so strict and so hard on us in combat training. I felt so stupid to have broken basically all the rules, now Sydney was going to pay for all of my mistakes, all of my stupid ideas. I couldn't help thinking what a horrible friend I was while involuntarily going back to the house.
