I slipped my phone into my jean pocket, I stayed in yesterday's clothes because I didn't feel like changing. When I got downstairs Andrew and my father were waiting for me at the bottom of the large wooden staircase.

"We have a lot to get through today, let's go." My father said, turning away from the stairs.

I wasn't too happy about this, but I guess I've learned to accept it, I have to deal with this same fight every day. It gets old.

"Let's just get this over with."

"Glad to see you're excited." He mumbled sarcastically,

He walked out the door with Andrew following him, I ran down the long staircase and follow them. Maybe today would be different.

What am I saying, of course it won't, It's never been different, so why would it be today? Yet, it is still kind of strange to get such hope out of nowhere... I walked through the woods, giant trees towering over me, casting shadows across the ground. Those same words replayed in my head "Maybe today will be different." When we reached the training site my father and brother were picking up their scythes, I headed over to a brick wall in the training site and picked my scythe up. We didn't have a chest to put our scythes in like the reapers in reaper school would. We got private lessons because we are 'special' or whatever.

"Alright, today is basic training, go out and take one life, come back, greet someone, repeat two more times and I'll tell you how you did on time and killing." My father said blankly,

spinning his scythe around in his hand. I nodded my head and grabbed onto my scythe,

"Oh and Onyx-" My father stopped me and turned around. "-Try not to cry over some human, this time, I can't see what goes on in those rooms but I don't want you coming back with teary eyes again."

I sighed and rolled my eyes, picturing the human world in my head and slammed the scythe onto the ground, it made a loud boom, even though the ground was just dirt. It was almost like it was screaming in pain from being smashed into the hard earth. My vision around me clouded with what looks like black fog, it felt like my body was slowly moving to a different world as I disappeared.

My vision cleared up in a matter of seconds but I was no longer at the training site, but the human world, the overworld. As much as I longed to get here, it wasn't the same. People walked by me, cars rode down the busy streets, yet no one saw me. They couldn't see me, I was merely a ghost of sorts, a ghost of death.

I looked around for whosoever life I was meant to take today. As I was looking around I felt a weak feeling of something passing through my body, I watched as a car came through me and drove away. I tried to shake the feeling off, although it just felt strange. I couldn't stand the feeling but I could barely feel it at all.

I saw a boy walk down the sidewalk, he looked about 17 or so. He wore a black hoodie, his hand placed gently inside his pockets. He had blue jeans, yet they sat on his waist normally, unlike the others boys I've seen walking around these days... Bleh.

He had short brown hair with blonde highlighted tips that hung in his face slightly. I couldn't see his face because I could only see the left side of him, also from the night sky and the dim streetlights, such little power like they wanted to sleep themselves. But my reaper sense told me something bad was about to happen to this boy. Something that would take his life. Reapers had vision and senses that humans didn't. Also, speed unlike any other being, I mean, some days when you're just killing and you got to get across the world in five minutes, you need speed like that since teleporting like that is only to and from my land.

I heard the sound of wheels rolling on the sidewalk, they got louder and louder until I could see two boys riding up to the first boy. They all stopped dead in their tracks when they got close, they didn't seem to hate each other, probably friends, went to the same school.
