Chapter Six
"Rose!"
"Rose!"
"ROSE!"
Ok now this is just plain annoying! Since when did I become friends with little miss goody two shoes, I should have just stayed at home, it would have been better than having to have another spoon bendingly boring discussion with Kaitlin.
Plastering my cheesiest happy go luck smile on my face I turned around to greet my fate.
"Kitty Kat, whatever's the matter."
"Oh Rosie." I felt like I was being assaulted as she threw herself at me, arms circled my neck as she buried her face in my shoulder.
I shifted uncomfortably, while patting her. "There, there."
"He dumped me, how could he just dump me?! He was supposed to love me! To be my Mr Darcy or hell even my own lying Mr Rochester, how could he do this?"
I was taken aback, one for the fact that rose white pure as a pearl Kaitlin had said 'hell' which for her was the equivalent of selling her soul to the devil, two for the fact that she'd been dumped, I have to be honest that was fast work, but mainly I was overcome with shock at the fact she'd said 'hell'.
"Oh Rosie, please help me get him back." She sniffled as she pulled her head back from my chest. "Pretty please."
"Kaitlin, I think the best thing for you to do right now is to show everyone how strong and independent you can be by walking over there by yourself, OK?"
She nodded meekly. "Ok."
She began to walk away, looking rather like Bambi on ice, her feet slipping out from under her ever so often.
"Miss Smith, if you don't start paying attention in class then we're going to have a big problem." Mr Hymen slammed his book down on my table making me jump in my seat. "I asked did you manage to read the chapter?"
"I read a bit of it." I left my sentence hanging, hoping he'd fall into my trap.
"Really, a bit of it. Care to expand?" He was fuming, he found it outrageous that even though I was obviously smart I made absolutely no effort at school.
"I think I remember reading something like:
Only one can rule the land,
Only one can take a stand.
Only one can win his heart,
Only one is that smart.
Only one can set us free.
But who will it be."
Have you ever heard the saying shut you're mouth so you don't catch flies? Well, I had to practically bite my tongue to prevent myself from snapping at Mr Hymen and securing myself another detention after I'd promised my foster parents that I'd start trying.
"Well," he cleared his throat. "That was unexpected, thank you Miss Smith."
"You are most certainly welcome Mr Hymen." I respond with the biggest, cheesiest grin on my face.
He walks back to the whiteboard, mumbling about how he wished he wasn't a teacher.
"Actually Sir, all that knowledge really wore me out, I think I better leave early." I stand up and grab my stuff before he can even say a word to stop me.
"Toodles."
Ditching English sounded like the best idea I'd ever had, that's until I realised that I probably went to the most boring high school known to man.
I mean there are only so many different stunts I can pull before they just become boring and completely predictable.
That's why during my spontaneous free period I'm sitting in the guys toilet fiddling with my phone and counting down the minuets till I can go home and not get nagged at by Heather as to why I'm home so early, and some how I think the excuse 'I'm just that awesome isn't going to cut it.'
The boys toilets were always the best place to sit as guys never really went into the cubicles.
I smiled to myself as I swiped my finger across the screen, nothing better than a good old game of Temple Run to take your mind of things.
"Adam it doesn't even matter if you don't actually find her, we just need someone to play the part."
"I know that but they have to be perfect, we can't just pick any overly flirty girl."
"But we have to act fast, who knows how many girls they've seen at this point."
"That's why our girl needs to be unique and original, not fake and plastic. No princess within there right mind would ever be plastic."
What the hell was Adam going on about?
Everyone thought I was weird but this boy was positively nuts. First he asks Kaitlin loads of strange questions about her family, then he climbs in through my window and now he's having a conversation with some unknown person sounding like they're going to kidnap some poor helpless girl.
"Have you found anyone?"
"Well, I thought Kaitlin might have been the perfect candidate but she's just to snow white, plus she's not an orphan so it would be easy to see that she's fake." Adam replied sounding like a serial killer deciding on his next victim.
"Does that mean we have to move again?"
"No because I think Rose would be perfect."
What?
Are my ears playing tricks on me. Have I finally gone insane. What the hell is he talking about?
I slide my phone back into my pocket and push myself carefully off the toilet seat.
"Rose? Rose Smith? The girl who looks like she'd sooner punch a princess in the mouth than dress up and be one."
"Yes, there's just something about her."
I couldn't stand in the silence any longer, making myself known I flushed the toilet and opened the door to be met by two very shocked faces.
All the colour had drained from Adam's face, he looked like a deer stuck in head lights. "Hey, Rose, I was just talking about you."
I prop myself up against the door of the cubical. "Hmm."
"Did, ugh, did you dye your hair?"
I raise my eyebrows in confusion, this nutcase was just talking about kidnapping me and now he wants to know if I dye my hair. I don't know when I left the land of the sane and walked straight into the realm of the moron but I know I want a non-stop ticket out of here.
I know I haven't updated in a really long time.
But basically in September my Grandma went in for an operation which we all thought went successfully, however late November the symptoms were coming back and they were worse and unfortunately after another operation she didn't get better. She passed away a few weeks ago and yesterday was her funeral
I haven't felt like writing and any ideas I get for this story are leading in a direction I don't want this story to take.
I hate to say that I've put this story on hold but I don't know when I'll feel like writing again.
I'm really sorry.
But I will finish the story, because I hate it when authors leave a story half way through so I won't do that to you, I'm just saying it might take me time.
Thank you.
