Connor's POV
The next morning, I woke up at 11 o'clock, feeling as if I'd had nowhere near enough sleep. And absolutely starving. Understandable, as I'd spent ten hours of my day yesterday on the phone and sleeping. Did I regret it, though? Not one bit.
I sat up tiredly, rubbing my eyes, as my stomach growled loudly. After all, I hadn't eaten anything in over twelve hours. With a loud grunt, I got out of bed, and put on some music to wake me up properly. As my morning playlist started playing, I headed to my small kitchen and opened the fridge.
I was met with the disappointing sight of a bag of apples, milk, and some frozen pies. As I grabbed an apple from the bag, I wrote myself a mental note to go to the supermarket later. I shut the fridge door and took a bite from the fruit, humming along to the song that was blasting softly from my phone.
I walked to my small wardrobe in the corner of my room and browsed through my options for the day. In the end, I just decided to stick with my favourite maroon sweater and black jeans.
After putting on my outfit for the day, I grabbed my fully-charged phone and paused the music, before checking my notifications.
There was a text from Tyler that was sent ten minutes ago. I opened it and sat down on the edge of my bed.
From: Tylerrr
Do you wanna go to the cafe in half an hour? We want to see the cherry blossoms
To: Tylerrr
Yeah sure I'll see you guys there :)
With only 20 minutes to reach the cafe, I slipped my phone into my pocket and put on my shoes quickly. I rushed out the door, making sure I locked it behind me. After I did, I power-walked through the corridor and down the stairs, out into the main dorm foyer.
The dorm foyer was a large, warm area. There was a heater in the corner, which had close to no use, as most students would just leave the doors open. The walls were made of wooden logs, which made it all feel very cosy and rustic. Apart from my own room, the foyer was one of my favourite places to hang out whenever I was free.
As I headed towards the front doors, I looked at the long row of sofas and cushioned benches on the side. I was met with a pair of striking blue eyes.
Troye.
His phone was on his lap, but his attention was on me. I shot him a small smile, remembering our late-night phone call.
He looked at me with a straight face, and my smile began to fade. Maybe it was a bit far-fetched to believe that he'd actually treat me nicely. He was only ever nice to me when he felt like it. I guess he didn't right now.
But, as soon as that thought had appeared in my mind, it disappeared.
A grin grew on his face, and suddenly I didn't feel so much hatred towards him anymore.
Instead, I felt like there was something growing between us. Something like an actual friendship.
---
I walked through the door of the cafe, immediately spotting a small table occupied by my friends.
"Connor!" Caspar called me over.
Grinning, I headed towards them and pulled out a seat next Tyler. "Hey, guys."
"Hey." Zoe smiled. "Are you going to order anything?"
I shook my head. "Nah. Are you?"
"Tyler and I already ordered some espressos." She told me.
"Oh, okay." I nodded, shifting in my seat. "So? How was your date?"
