*Avery's PoV*I leaned my head against the cool window of the car as we headed back home from our adventure at the lake. After another hour talking by the fire, Andy started getting sleepy so we figured it was time to head home.
Craig had let me plug my phone in to play my music and I hummed along to a song from The Vaccines. Craig held on to my hand while my other tapped on the door panel. I felt like we rushed back into this without a longer break but I guess Craig felt tortured enough that he couldn't take it any longer. I guess we both rushed back into this.
All I knew was that it was going to be a while before we could do anything. Therapy had gotten me over the panic attacks and the memories when I was touched, but I still felt uncomfortable thinking about anything more. Any thought of something...sexual, I instantly thought of Michael and it made me sick. But I also wanted to hold onto Craig and another him with kisses, and the tearing thoughts had me lost.
"What did you smell at the lake?" I questioned randomly, curiosity getting the better of me.
He stayed silent for a moment. Making me lift my head away to look at him. His eyes were set on the road, eyebrows drawn down as he thought over his words.
"I thought I smelt rogues but they never go by that lake so I don't understand...families go to that lake, I'm worried now that something could happen there," he admitted. I nearly smiled at the information. It seemed like he kept a lot from me so it felt nice that he could confide in telling me something like this.
"Wait was there rogues near us or did their scent linger like you said?" I asked worriedly. To think that some wolves were out there watching us made me feel weird. You don't watch people for no reason, they could have hurt us. It made me think of the wolf that nearly attacked me in the garden. How rabid and terrifying it looked. Had Craig not showed up it would have taken it a second to kill me.
"I truthfully don't know, the scent wasn't strong so they could have been there and left or-,"he paused,"they could have been watching us from further away," he finished.
I nodded my head at this and squeezed his hand.
"Can you send some of the guards to track them or something?" I asked. "Maybe you can find out how far out they were or maybe where they're staying."
He nodded at this and rubbed his chin in thought. The stubble looked more prominent now, and I would be lying if I said he didn't look really good.
He smirked softly and glanced over to me,"I like how you sound talking pack business with me," he stated.
I smiled back before gesturing to the road,"Eyes on the road buddy," I scolded.
I bit my lip and squeezed his hand tighter.
I could still feel his eyes on me before they finally went back to the road.
The rest of the group was in front of us, their car illuminated by our headlights. You could almost make out their heads if you looked closely. I could only imagine what they were doing, Andy had to be asleep and John and Katie had to be arguing or laughing with each other.
We were getting close to home and I began to feel nervous. Once we got home we'd have to go to sleep, and I wasn't sure how the sleeping arrangement was going to work. Craig was definitely moving back to our room and it made me nervous to sleep with him again after what happened today.
