Climb

Been climbing this mountain for as long as I can remember
A competition where one strives to go higher than the others
Its triumph is what everyone wants to savor
But at the top, happiness turns into vapor.

At first, I did not know anything
All I know everyone was climbing
You need to climb too - they said
So I did though I didn't know where I'm being led.

I failed and fell and everyone did too
But I never stopped and kept going higher
'cause they said it's what people must do
We keep our heads up and conquer.

The more I rise, the more I learn
Seeing the two sides of the mountain
One where the shadows bleed
And one where the sun grieves.

Now I'm at the top,
Is this where I can stop?
Cold wind caressed my cheeks
Hope stars still make me meek.
