I didn't know where I was.
My pack huffed in exhaustion. Their breath looked frozen in the air. Snow fell from the sky like stars at night. There was an often worried glance my way. They were probably worrying where I was leading them. The sky was now grey and the ground was white. We couldn't navigate like this. The stars and moon weren't visible at all. I let out a low growl of frustration. I didn't know where I was going. But I felt as if I needed to go there. As if there was some unknown important reason. I turned back to the Mist Star pack to deliver the news. But instead, I came face to face with beautiful green eyes. I bit back a yelp of surprise. The brown and black wolf smirked. As if he planned it all.
"North!" I said, shocked. Last I time saw him he was at the back of our small pack, watching us from behind. To come up behind me, as silent and fast as he did...
"Mystic, you're leading us to your home..." He said nervously. His voice barely audible in the wind. Just then, a white and grey wolf with purple eyes trotted up to us.
"Northern, you could've just told her we're going to her father's old territory. Where the Red Peak pack used to dwell." She snapped. My mate's green eyes flashed.
"Dahlia, I was talking to her, not you" He barked fiercely. A black shadow appeared and stood face to face with him. A she wolf with black and grey fur and silver eyes.
"You still could've said it simply!" She snarled.
"Nightshade! You know he didn't mean it that way! " I replied, trying to remain calm, but my lips peeled back in anger. Dahlia seemed to catch on and took several steps back. Another black wolf appeared, this one was pure black but with amber eyes with very sleek fur. She was tiny and seemed fragile to touch.
"G-guys... S-stop f-fighting" She stuttered shyly and lowered her head. I instantly relaxed and even Nightshade, with the most rebellious spirit turned her muzzle to Shadow. North literally plopped down on the snow and sighed. A poof of snow swirled around him due to him sitting so suddenly. I too, sat down and soon everyone was sitting down in a little circle. I looked at each and every one of them. All of them my friends, old and new. All of them I cared about deeply, this was my pack.
"We need to discuss the famine that is coming our way. We also need a place to stay. " I said slowly. North nodded in understanding. He knew where this was headed too.
"But why take us to Red Peak?" Dahlia asked, still confused. Shadow caught on instantly, I could tell by the way her ears twitched nervously she knew what they were talking about.
"S-She's taking us t-to her old h-home so we can stay t-there." She explained stiffly, shivering so hard her teeth bounced around. My eyes softened, she had less of a winter fur on than any of us. Although black fur attracted heat, her pelt wasn't thick enough to stand cold whether yet due to her small size for a werewolf. I nodded at her happily, glad that she understood.
"Anything you guys want to add?" I asked my pack softly. They all looked at me with their eyes round. Then it hit me. They trusted me...
"Then let's go!" I barked and got up. Instantly, everyone followed.
Northern's POV:
My pack walked along a hidden trail, the snow moist under our paws, soothing them from the long journey. The trail was nicely lit with warm sunlight. With my position in the back, I could see everyone else, since they where walking in a single file line. The branches scratched their fur as they walked through a crowded space. The Mist Star pack carefully picked their way through. With my mate leading them in the front. Dahlia had told them, but I on the other had tried to. Inside I felt like I was dying, realizing what my sister and I had gone through leaving the Dark Star pack and making an alliance with the Red Peak pack. I shook my head vigorously. I had to tell her. I sped up my pace from my position in the back. After some convincing from the other pack members, they eventually let me through the crowded path to where my white wolf led. I nervously walked a few steps behind her. I opened my mouth and forced myself to speak.
"Um... Mystic.." I said consciously. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you this earlier... I was afraid as to what you would say." I admitted, my fear drifted into my words slightly. "I wanted to know if you want to adopt a pup I found before we met." I said sensibly. She froze, making me nearly bump into her.
"Hey!" Nightshade snarled at us. Dahlia, who was behind her, crashed into her. They started growling at each other while Shadow stood in the back, whimpering. I looked from Mystic to the pack. She was so still, like a frozen statue. I could almost hear her mind working. Trying to figure out. I snapped and rounded on the Mist Star.
"Guys! Stop complaining! We've all been through worse than just a simple crash into someone else" I growled out. Shadow just sat down with her ears flat. Nightshade and Dahlia both glared at me. But didn't protest at all. I turned back to my mate. Her blue eyes glazed over with a fog like color. Talking, she was talking to the two beings inside her. Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess and Lily, her human form. Like me, she was a host to one of the gods. I was a host to Tsukuyomi, the Moon God. As for my human.... I tore myself out from those thoughts. No, I wouldn't think of that. The wind rustled my fur, bringing me back to reality.
"North, where is the pup?" My white wolf whispered stiffly. Oh great... I had somehow made her angry.
"Um... " I tried to recall the last place I saw the small wolf pup. He had been in a dark forest near here...
"A forest near here. Can I take someone? While you lead the rest to the Red Peak? " I suggested. My tail flicked nervously. Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly but nodded.
"Yeah, take anyone you want. I'll take them out of this ice land. It's getting worse" She agreed and looked up.
"A storm is coming too. This pup must be important, for you to want to adopt. OK, bring him and let's see if the pack accepts him... But North... " She whispered the last part and looked down, then back up. Her sapphire eyes bore into my emerald ones. She walked closer to me softly and nuzzled my neck and licked my ear gently.
"I trust your judgment. Hurry, I don't want to lose you in the storm. Go" She added in my ear and bit it playfully.
"Don't go dying on me, or else I'll go on a rampage and bring Tsukuyomi back running!" She barked and retreated.
