00 - Death and The Maiden

Eyes glazed over,

Her limbs so frail and cold.

Her time was over,

Her soul so broken and old.

Since the great ninja war.

Since his death - Neji;

Her life's greatest regret...

Her eyes opened;

Floating in a trance-like limbo,

A violet moon eclipsed the earth.

Laughter rang out,

Surrounding Hinata.

"Who are you?"

A call to which no reply was given.

More cackling, as a violent storm brewed;

The horizon was not as peaceful as she had left it.

Instead, it was turbulent and

Bloody red;

tinged with sin.

"What do you want?"

"No, no. The question is... what do you want, Hinata?"

Hinata sighed;

So soft.

"My life was perfect.

My husband loved me,

My kids were happy.

They grew up to be excellent ninjas,

And our village prospered.

I have no regrets."

Swirling, clouds danced over to Hinata's spectral form.

"Lies. Lies. Lies~"

An image flashed then,

Neji - his last moments.

"Wouldn't you say he was taken too soon?

The genius! Ahahahaha!

I can help you go back."

Hinata's heart quivered;

But she was not stupid.

"Why would you help me?

You're a mysterious voice who has not yet shown yourself.

I cannot trust you.

Please, just let me pass on."

A boom;

Thunder struck the earth.

"I promise, you wouldn't have to give me anything.

Just, do one thing for me."

Hinata wasn't listening, she was searching for a way out.

Yet, the voice continued.

"Change his fate.

Save his life.

You owe him, don't you?"

Cold bristled on Hinata's back -

That location,

All those years ago;

It should have been her.

She would have died to save Naruto.

Instead, Neji died for her.

Hinata was still unconvinced.

"Why would you do this?

Out of the goodness of your heart?"

Rocks , debris , and the earth itself was now torn by the storm;

Violence rained across the land.

Hinata was unaffected,

And apparently neither was the voice.

"I can't tell you my intentions,

But I will tell you this.

To save Neji and change his fate,

You must first destroy a world."

Hinata froze, realizing;

This world.

Her world.

"I never had a choice, did I?"

Silence, laughter, then;

"Of course you had a choice.

There's always a choice.

The thing is, Hinata.

You made your choice the moment you died."

Sinister eyes peeked out;

A violent grey amongst stormy black clouds.

"After all,

Out of guilt...

You k i l l e d yourself."
