The music was filling the room with happiness and joy; everyone was having an amazing time. The instruments sound flows beautifully and swiftly out into the filled room causing everyone to dance. It was truly beautiful, well that’s what my parents want me to think of it. The music finally finishes and everyone on the ballroom floor bows and curtsies and walks off to go sit at the tables that have been placed out on the eastern exit of the ballroom. When everyone is sitting down the food comes out. Everyone is eating and talking to their hearts content but all I want to do is get this celebration over with. There is a sudden ringing of bells coming from outside and everyone sits still without a sound.
The Queen stands up from her table. “Welcome, welcome everyone. Thank you so much for being here tonight to celebrate the Future king’s birthday” she announces and everyone claps in appreciation. “I would now like to propose a toast, to Prince Jayden’s 18th birthday, happy birthday my beautiful boy” the Queen announces raising her glass of champagne up into the air, with everyone’s glasses rising soon after, with this action all of a sudden I run into the ballroom on the eastern side with mud on my forehead and a bow in my hand. Everyone stares at me like they've just seen a ghost. My mother looks at me with disappointment and my father has a disapproving scowl planted on his face.
“Happy birthday son” my farther projects thought the room trying to recover from the ‘stunt’ I just pulled. Seconds later everyone is saying happy birthday with their glasses in the air, all rose for me. I wave it off mouthing thank you to our guests and walk over to my parents at the head table near my 4 story birthday cake, covered with blue and green icing, soft fragrant colours, with what looks like millions of candles sticking out of every flat surface, it is really beautiful. “Thanks for the save dad” I whisper to him once I make it to the table. “son, I was only doing it so we don’t look bad, you were supposed to be ready to come in, not running in like a turkey that just lost his head!” the King exclaims at me loudly, but not so loud it causes a scene.
“Darling, just go get cleaned up quickly and come back down, well discuss this some other time” my mother says to me with calm and sensitivity in her voice. I do as she says and leave the ballroom. I walk up stairs, around corners and finally enter my room, which is more like a house. At the entrance there is a painting that I did myself, as you walk further in the hallway opens up to an area with soft couches and a small table in the middle. On each wall there is a door leading to another room. To one side is the bathroom and to the other is my bedroom, with only a bed, bedside tables, a closet and a mirror to occupy it. The two other doors lead to my very own library, full of books and maps and places I’ve drawn up from stories that I’ve heard that I want to visit and the other room is my favourite, my art room. Full of easels, canvases, paint and paint brushes. A large window along with a door leading to a balcony. The light in this room is mostly an orange, with shades of red and blue entering though the glass. Along the empty walls are painting that I had done myself over my lifetime, what I think to be as my personal time line.
I quickly clean up and put formal clothes on and exit my room and go back down to the ballroom. Everyone is now dancing, having a great time with the music coming from the instruments making the room feel alive. Not many people acknowledge my entrance but then again, I would prefer them not to. “Darling, Darling!” my mother yells from the other side of the room, I only faintly hear her but I know she wants me. I walk over to where the sound was coming from. “Darling ask someone to dance, it may be your future bride” she exclaims pushing me towards where everyone is dancing. Everyone stops as soon as I being my clumsy self, trip over my own feet when my mum pushes me. “Please keep dancing, don’t mind me” I say as soon as the incident happens. I walk over to where a large amount of girls are standing; they look to be around 16. One of them looks amazing compared to all the rest, I can’t help but move closer and closer towards her until I am so close to her our lips are barely touching. I snap out of my zoned out state and move back instantly. “Oh my lord I am so sorry for that, I didn’t mean to” I exclaim to the girl I was so intreged with.
“Oh no, its fine just a little creepy but you don’t need to apologise your highness” she says to me. “Please don’t call me that, Jayden is my name, what is yours may I ask?” I question her. “I know who you are, everyone does. I’m Lisa Nitol” she answers.
“Well, Lisa Nitol, would you care to dance with me?” I ask while offering her my hand. “It would be my honour” she answers while giving me a slight curtsy and accepting my hand. We walk onto the ballroom floor, hand in hand towards the centre with all the other people surrounding us while dancing. The music is so alive and moving it flows through your veins as though it is a part of you. I pull Lisa close to me and hold her on her lower back, along with her hand. Our feet move in sync with the music around the centre of the guests who are dancing. “How old are you?” I ask Lisa. “Isn’t that a personal question you’re not meant to ask?” she questions me.
“I’m the Prince, I have the authority to ask you” I answer her.
“16” she answers, stepping on my foot. “Oh my I’m so sorry!” she exclaims.
“It’s alright, a few stomped feet isn’t going to kill me” I reashore her and continue to lead us dancing. I didn’t realise it but everyone is now staring at me and Lisa dancing in the room. When the music ends we part slightly and bow at each other. “I see you’ve picked a bride” my mother exclaims to me when I walk over to her with Lisa. “Excuse me?” I ask confused.
“I said the person you dance with may be your future wife, and your future wife is her” she answers.
I have a future wife, and I only just meet her.
