“But mum I can’t marry her!” I explain while barging into my bedroom.

“darling I told you that you might find your future wife before you went and asked someone to dance, I didn’t realise that you were going to go and pick your future bride out of every single lady that was there” she explained.

I was so fustraighted. She has arranged my marriage, I wasn’t surprised by that because that is what’s always happened in a royal family but I would expect for her to tell me who I was going to get married to.

“Why didn’t you tell me before this party mother?” I ask while sitting down on one of my many couches, putting my head in my hands from fustraition, letting out a sigh. “It was meant to be a surprise sweetheart, for your birthday you were meant to meet her later yesterday night or today” she explained to me while sitting down on the couch next to me.

“You could of at least told me that she would be there” I say even more fustraighted.

“I’m sorry darling, we should have, we both me and your farther are truly sorry” she apologises while grabbing hold of my hand trying to get me to look up at her.

The thing with my mother is that when she starts apologising she doesn’t stop something that you grow to find annoying. “Mother its ok, just don’t do that with my younger sisters, tell them when you find someone for them so they don’t react worse than I have” I explain to her, accepting her gesture and lift my head up to look at her while holding her hand. “Promise me you’ll be better with them?” I ask her, needing her to promise me. “I promise darling, anything for you” she reassures me while slightly squeezing my hand. “Now bed time, you may be 18 but that doesn’t mean you stay up later, I’ll see you in the morning” she says while getting up and leaving my room. “Love you” I say to her.

“Love you most” she answers. Once the doors close I go into my bathroom and have a shower. After I have finished my shower I walk over to my bed throw back my sheets, climb onto the soft mattress and grab the sheets covering my body with them. Turning off my bedside lamp I lay in bed wondering what being married will do to my dreams, my dreams of traveling to foreign lands, one impaticular and all of a sudden I am over taken by a blanket of darkness into a deep slumber.

I open my eyes to the blinding light of the sun seeping through the window of my bedroom. I hear talking outside my bedroom doors but don’t want to know what it is whoever they are and what their talking about. I cover my head with one of the pillows lying on the floor hoping to shut everything out but all of a sudden I hear the footsteps of more than one person running to my bed. I lift my head up from the pillow to see my three little sisters running full speed towards me, eventually reaching me and jumping up onto my bed.

“Jayden! Wake up! There’s a pretty girl downstairs whose here to see you!” the youngest Katerina. My little sisters are adorable and I love them but they need to understand that I need to sleep. Katerina is 6, only a little girl. The other two are Naomi and Clara. Naomi is 9 and Clara is 13.

“Jayden! Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay!” Naomi keeps repeating in my ear, it sounds like her voice is going to start an earthquake.

“What do you little rascals want?” I moan.

“A really pretty girl is here to see you! Mum says that she’s going to be your wife and you are going to have little children soon!” Katerina explains.

“Wait, what?” I ask in confusion.

“Yeah she said that we were going to be aunties soon” Clara says to me.

“Ok, I’m going to ask what this is about why don’t you girls go play outside on your horses, him that sounds like fun doesn’t it?” I offer them.

“Yeah! Let’s go play outside!” Katrina exclaims and grabs both her sisters’ hands and runs out of my room like she has superpowers.

Finally there gone, and what’s with this children thing, I know I’m getting married but I’m not having children with someone I don’t love, I think to myself. I get up have a shower put some clothes on and go downstairs to meet my parents in the dining room.

When I walk down there I find Lisa, the girl from last night sitting eighth my parents at the table along with what seems to be her parents.

“Oh good Jayden you’re here, ide like you to meet your future in-laws. Queen Sia and King Vincent, Lisa’s parents” father explained introducing me to them, gesturing me to introduce myself to them. “Your highnesses’, it’s an honour to meet you both “I say while giving them a slight bow. “Oh no young man, the pleasure is all ours” they answer my greeting. “Come son, sit with us” my father offered me. I accepted his offer and sat down next to Lisa. During our meal we all talked about the basic things about ourselves and the parent’s reason for us getting married.

The reason was because our villages have been at war with the same kingdom for centuries now and what better way to defeat the kingdom than to bring two different kingdoms together to defeat another, quite a simple and common reason for marriage.

As I walk outside the palace with Lisa and her parents to say goodbye for couple of days, I ask Lisa “do you love someone?”

“Of course I love someone, it’s not like I wanted to be brought into an arranged marriage but you and I both really have no choice “she whispers to me.

“Who is he?” I ask her.

“He’s a baker from a local village in my kingdom, when he found out I was getting married he instantly denied he knew me in person, the way he did know me, it broke my heart “she explained.

“And you still love him?” I question.

“Of course I do, with all my heart and soul” she answered.

After she boarded the carriage and it started leaving the palace ground I run off before anyone can talk to me and grab my bow that my farther had put at the back entrance of the palace. I grabbed some arrows and ran towards the woods that surrounded the palace’s back garden. After getting my horse Stacie, she galloped into the woods with me on her back and as we were running around freely while I’m shooting my arrows at random things I see something run faster than the speed of the wind, I decided to follow it. Trying to catch up I make Stacie run as fast as she possibly can, when we turn a corner, then I see what was running. A girl with red hair.
