Reader POV
Wind whipped wildly down the narrow street in front of the small shop. The large windows , covered in small sun worn bits of advertisements cast a rainbow of flittering colors across the overstocked shelves. Shadows of patrons scurrying about raced across the shop, each one bundled in oversized jackets and coats hiding their faces from the frigid December wind.
You watch as each shadow passes up the opportunity to revel in the history of each piece of oddities on your shelves. Nothing couse possibly be more interesting than learning the story behind each of your treasures. Just enough collectors visited each month to keep business running smoothly . Most sent requests about odd items they thought you might have .
Collecting things was the true joy. Learning their history , their story, their true value was well worth the time spent acquiring them.
You perch yourself on a stool behind the counter , swivel to and fro daydreaming of what each person passing by the shop door will do . Where will they go? What will they do when they get there..
Ting. tingle ring ting.
A raggedy man wearing a small red bow tie burst through the door frantically looking for something but not finding it. The jingling of the small bell above the shop's door rips you away from your daydream .
"May I help you find something, Sir?" You ask politely in your most helpful tone. Not many customers come busting through those doors and you want to make a good impression on the ones that do after all.
"Yes, yes you can . I am looking for a wobbly thing about like this." The man in the bow tie rushes over to you holding his fingers apart in different lengths . "Well, maybe more like this." He squints measuring several different widths with his fingers only inches from your face. "Do you have one?" He shoves his hands properly into the tiny pockets of his tan vest.
"I am sure i do , let me check the back." You flash a sweet grin and stroll graciously to the back of the shop. You enter a small door and reappear shortly after holding a small cylinder made of unusual metal.
You place the small metal tube in the man's hand. "Is this what you are searching for?"
The raggedy man eyes it closely looking rather curious. "Yes, But how did you know?" His sentence trails off as he studies your face closely looking for clues as to how you had the exact thing he was looking for .
"We are the Everything Shop, We have everything you are looking for . " A wide grin sweeps across your face as you let the man place an undetermined amount of money into your open hand.
He refuses to take his eyes off of you as he slowly walks to the front door. You watch his shadow slowly pass the advertisement covered window.
"What a curious man, isn't he Chello. I dont believe we have ever had anyone come in looking for one of those before. " You scratch a large fluffy black cat behind the ear as you pass by. "It's almost Christmas, you know. The odd ones always come back around christmas."
