When King Ezra Loved

In a time far far away, before everything, before the planets that ruled the Universe was the great kingdom Unikan. It lived on the only planet of the Universe. Unikan was a very happy kingdom, its houses were made of special rocks that glinted, they were like the diamonds of Earth. Everyone in Unikan was happy and rich.

Unikan was ruled by the wise, kind, and brave King Ezra. Although he was a very good king, he buried himself in his work and his favourite hobby: making crystal balls. His parents were dead and he didn't marry because of his busyness.

Love, said the King, is nothing but a distraction to what we are supposed to do.

These balls weren't just any common ball, it was made by the mixture of wisdom, kindness, braveness, and the most elite of the special rocks. The crystal balls were kept in a room next to the King's room.

The thing was, Fate never agreed with you, whoever you are.

One day, while the King was strolling in the park, he saw a lady sitting on a strong branch of the tree. She was reading a novel.

King Ezra decided to walk towards her and have a little chat. The lady looked nothing like the ladies of Unikan, she was simply. Simply beautiful.

Millie, her name, had a pair of beautiful kaleidoscopic eyes, a short red hair, and freckles that scattered in her face. Millie never told King Ezra her home but she told him a little about herself every day they met each other. Millie may not be as pretty as the Unikan ladies but she was very wise. She loved reading books and pondering thoughts.

The King liked Millie so he made her his Adviser.

Months later, the two fell in love and the whole Unikan was happy to know. It was a beautiful experience for them to see their King happy because of love.

King Ezra was so happy that he made a crystal ball made of Wisdom, Kindness, Braveness, special rocks, and his Love. He offered this to Millie who happily accepted it. It was the sphere of Love. The couple married in front of the people of Unikan. It was a very happy day for everyone.

But sometimes Fate turns your life the upside down.

One night, Millie was busy reading a novel and the King was attending to his subjects in the throne room when a monster appeared in front of her.

It was a beast from Millie's past, the reason why she went to Unikan. She wanted to escape it but she knew that escape was never the solution. She knew she had to fight it.

Queen Millie grabbed King Ezra's sword and she fought the beast with courage. She finally managed to behead the beast but the beast managed to stab her with its poisonous venom.

Queen Millie fell down on the floor, waiting for her husband. She wanted to see the last image of her beloved lover.

King Ezra was too late. He heard the beast but it had little attackers around the palace. King Ezra fought the beast's minions in desperation. He wanted to reach Millie. He had to.

When he arrived, he found Millie lying on the floor, their crystal ball was beside her. King Ezra rushed to his Queen, where she was saving her last breath for him.

The Queen looked at King Ezra's dark blue eyes and smiled. She reached for his face and kissed him.

The two lovers were oblivious to the disastrous mess in the palace. All that mattered was that they were there for each other, that they loved each other, that even if they denied love they still happened to stumble upon it.

King Ezra wanted the moment to be frozen but things still went on. Queen Millie fell on the King's arms, lifeless. The King cried in agony and he carefully lay his Queen on the floor and threw their crystal ball.

It exploded and the other crystal balls followed. Everything was a blur of beautiful colours as the kingdom of Unikan fell.

The crystal balls became the other galaxies in the Universe, the sphere of Love became the Milky Way. It mixed with the blood of Queen Millie, which was white because of her pureness. The rocks became stars, the virtues became the human beings but the blood of the beast was mixed with it so humans were either good or evil. The agony of King Ezra created a beautiful masterpiece.

As for King Ezra, some people say that he lives in a cave dwelling on memories. On the painful memories when he had loved a wonderful lady named Millie. He is felt around us but he was and never will be seen. He will only perish along with the Universe.
