A (Not So) Dangerous Mission(?)

The next day...

Steven's POV
Light. I woke up, still in the couch from last night. I looked down on the floor, and saw Y/N, wrapped up in a red blanket. She rolled over, and her y/e/c eyes fluttered open. Those eyes looked over to me, and I just waved. She chuckled quietly, and sat up slowly, giving herself a stretch. She yawned a cute little yawn.
"Aww..." I whispered to myself.
"Huh?" Y/N asked. I blushed, and looked down.
"Nothing!" I replied quickly. She giggled. We then heard a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." Y/N assured. Thankfully, she was still in her human form. I looked up at her, and I saw Connie at the door. Y/N answered it.
"Connie!" Y/N exclaimed, wrapping Connie up in a big bear hug. Connie cringed.
"Y-yeah...I...missed you, too." Connie said, a little out of breath from being hugged so hard. I laughed to myself. I got up, and walked over to Connie and Y/N.
"Sup sup, Connie!" I said, flashing her a charming smile. She giggled.
"Hi, Steven!" She replied. Y/N just stood there and smiled.
"What's so funny, Y/N?" I chuckled. She looked up.
"Ohh... Nothing..." Y/N exaggerated the word 'nothing'. I chuckled, and told Connie to come on in (😏). Connie walked on in, and sat on the couch.
Y/N sat in the middle of Connie and I. I smiled, and looked at Y/N.
"So... What was so funny?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. Y/N smirked.
"How cute you and Connie would be together." Was all she said. I must've looked like either a big red apple, or a tomato.
"I-no! No...that's-that's not it at all...we-we're just friends!" I stuttered, looking over at Connie, who just looked down into her lap. Y/N stopped laughing, and looked over at Connie.
"H-hey...d-don't take it seriously, Connie..." Y/N stuttered nervously. Connie's eyes were tearing up.
"Y-yeah!" I said. Connie started to cry.
"I-it's not that..." Connie spoke. I looked at Y/N, and shrugged. She shrugged back.
"Then... What is it?" I asked Connie. She wiped her tears, and looked up at me.
"Steven I...

I...

When you said that we were just friends...it hurt my feelings. We've done tons of things together, and you seem to hang out with Y/N more now. I actually thought...we... I... Had a chance..." Connie spoke again, trailing off.
"Have a chance at what?" I asked Connie. She sighed, and seemed to brace herself for something.
"I thought we had a chance...to become a-a.... Couple." Connie finished, slapping her hands over her eyes. I gasped quietly, my cheeks seemed to burn. I quickly got on the other side of Connie, and put my hand on her shoulder.
"Connie... I know we're technically both kids...and... Stuff, but, I'm 14, and you're only 12." I explained to her as she looked up at me. Y/N's hands were over her mouth, her y/e/c eyes widened. Connie sniffed, and stopped crying.
"You're right, Steven... Maybe it's okay. We will just be friends. And that's alright." Connie said, cracking a smile. I chuckled, and started to sing:

SPOILERS AHEAD PEOPLE

I'm here, I'm here, I'm here." I sang. Connie and Y/N smiled through the whole thing. Y/N clapped, as Connie wrapped me up in a hug.
"Thank you." She said happily.
"Yo, dudes! We got ourselves a not so dangerous mission!" We heard Amethyst speak. We looked over towards the voice.
"Hello." Garnet said, walking up next to Amethyst.
"Are all of you ready?" Pearl walked up, too.
"Yes!" Me, Y/N, and Connie chirped. Garnet nodded, and walked up to us. She kneeled down.
"Since all of you are children, and you all need to stay safe, you will each be assigned one of us to help you...you too, Steven. Pearl will guide Steven, Amethyst will guide Connie...and I'll guide Y/N." Garnet told me, Connie, and Y/N. We nodded. Garnet stood up. Amethyst and Pearl walked over.
"Now, Amethyst, be careful with Connie." Pearl told Amethyst.
"Pfft, of course!" Amethyst chuckled.

At the mission...

"This is the Communication Hub." Garnet told us, pointing to the now wrecked tower that was in pieces.
"Well... Was the Communication Hub." I chimed in. Amethyst laughed. Y/N looked at the ruined hub in wonder. Connie was just sitting next to Amethyst. Everything was calm for once.
"Guys! Look!" Garnet whisper yelled, pointing into the air. All of us looked up.
"The Rubies!" Pearl whispered.
"Uh-oh.." Amethyst chimed in.
"Rubies..." Y/N mumbled. The red ship just floated there, way up in the air. That's when I noticed that there was still one piece of the Communication Hub that was standing. It didn't work, though, obviously. We saw the ship all of a sudden fly down super fast...

And crash right into the last piece of the Hub.
