Drinking. That's all he could think about. 10 years old and drinking, is that even healthy? It's not, but then again this is Damien we're talking about here. He sat at the bar, wearing a suit and tie, with some sunglasses and his spiked up hair. He was waiting for something, something big. Like the boy walking in with the shaved head, a gun in his hand. People stared, but ignored him.
This is normal.
The shaved boy held up his gun and fired, a signal for another boy younger than him. Damien got up and pulled out a weapon of his own, a knife, and stabbed the man next to him.
Another number.
Damien took his wallet and looked inside, empty darkness staring at him. He looked at the man next to him, and grab the wallet that was sticking out of his pocket. He looked inside and saw a load of cash, with a huge smile on his face, and took out the cash. He puts it on the counter, looking at the bartender, who was shaking.
"Here's your cash buddy, enjoy." Damien said, then walked away with a little skip in his step. His friend followed behind as he left, heading to the alley across the street.
"Damien, we should've just kept the money, and the wallet!" Arlo shouted.
"Oh shut up, I saved your life." Damien said.
"No, you decided not to kill me."
"Exactly, you'd be dead by now."
"Just tell me if you kept the wallet."
Damien held up the blue wallet, smirking. He takes off his sunglasses, since the sun was going down, and opens the wallet. He takes out a piece of broken paper, then sighed.
Nothing.
"Nothing..." Damien said, then threw the wallet far, clenching his fists.
"Calm down D, just breathe." Arlo said, slowly patting Damien's back.
"I thought we would get something.. But we didn't. We're farther away from the truth now, and I need to find him." Damien said.
"I get it, your parent's murderer is out there, but you going on and killing people is kinda the same as what he did." Arlo said.
"NO!" Damien shouted, glaring at Arlo. "Don't compare me to him! He killed innocent people, I am killing evil people! People who deserve it!"
"I. Listen Damien, we can't do this on our own, I have friends who can help us."
"No. No. I only trust you, no more people."
Thunder rings out, filling the moment, and rain falls hard. Tears mix with the rain on Damien's face.
"Damien, it's ok." Arlo whispers. "Just trust me when I say they're good, they can get us money."
"I can't. They'll kill me, they could be working with him." Damien said, slowly taking out a knife.
"Damien. Don't do this, if you kill me, you lose your only friend." Arlo said, a small smirk showing. "Listen to me, trust me."
"You lie. You lied. You hate me!" Damien turns around, a gun aiming at him.
"Listen Lonson, you and I are different people, and over the year you kept me alive, I knew I just had to kill you. It's all I got." Arlo said, frowning. "I'm sorry, friend."
Arlo pulled the trigger, only to hear a click of no bullets.
Kill him, don't hesitate.
Damien stabbed Arlo quickly, then walked away. Arlo collapsed, staring at the sky. Off in the distance he can hear sobbing from his friend, his best friend. Why did he betray him? Well that's what money does to you kids, it makes you crazy.
Damien never understood his mind, how did he know about Arlo? How did he know that he was betrayed, how? He doesn't know, and he doesn't realize it now, but his mind plays many tricks on him. He just killed a boy who was his friend, a man who was innocent. Damien finds out later that Arlo wasn't betraying him, he was scared. But Damien doesn't know that.
Oh no.
Because he only trusts the voices in his head.
