I ran down the hallway, hearing their voices behind me. I didn't know where to go or what to do except to keep running from them.
I kept my eyes looking ahead to focus but looked behind me every few seconds. It was that one time I turned my head to see them chasing after me, when I ran into a body and fell back.
It was that guy from the store, who didn't seem surprised to see me. He looked down at me and extended a hand out to me.

"Wake up"
I looked at him with confusion and squinted eyes.
"What?"
"Wake up Sierra!" He repeated louder as he bent down and grabbed me by the shoulders.

I was frightened and at a loss of breath. I shook and opened my eyes to see my mom at my side.

"You were having a nightmare" she stated.

I let out a sigh of relief, now knowing none of that happened.

"Do you wanna talk about it?"
"Nothing to worry about. I'm fine mom"

She got up from her kneeled position and headed downstairs, leaving me in my room.

I checked my phone to notice half an hour has pasted. School was going to start tomorrow morning and I'm spending my last hours taking a nap. Great.

After a nice stretch I stood up and made my bed. I took a look around my messy room and realized that my bed was not the only thing I had to fix up.

I walked around my room picking up clothes that were thrown on the floor, making a big bundle of it all in my arms. The clothes were put into my hamper by the door and I moved on to throwing away empty water bottles and wrappers of candy into the trashcan by my desk. Finally I took my backpack out and placed my books and binder inside along with a pencil case.

"Ready for hell tomorrow" I thought

I was called downstairs for sloppy joes, which I haven't had in a long time. I sat at the table and grabbed a plate with napkins to avoid getting messy.

One bite into my sloppy joe and most of its contents were now on my plate. I didn't mind it and kept chewing, occasionally taking sips of my Pepsi. My parents and I haven't sat at the table to eat together ever since they had those arguments but I notice them having a conversation about what candles to buy from bath and body works.

"Flannel is the best" I add in randomly.

They smile as if they're encouraging me to keep talking, so I do.
"I have a whole list of my favorites. The house would smell like an Autumn lovers dream" I laugh knowing that I myself love Autumn.

I love how the leaves become warm with the bright yellows and dark reds, how the temperature cools down but not too much, and how it rains so much. I used to enjoy playing out in the rain as a kid. I realize how much I miss those days when I didn't have a care in the world.

Mom and dad snap me out of my thoughts when they burst into laughter. Moms eyes fill with tears, but these are different, they are accompanied by a smile and blushing. Dads telling the funniest stories he has, just to see that laugh of hers.

"Honey what's wrong? You seem quiet?" Dad smiles towards me.

I chew my bottom lip before smiling myself.
"I'm just enjoying this moment"

Moms hand gently took mine and rubbed her thumb side to side across my hand. It felt nice. Relaxing if you will.

After we were done eating, I helped mom out by gathering the plates and placing them inside the dishwasher. Earning a "thank you" from her.

Later on I found myself in the bathroom ready for my shower.
I peeled my clothes off, placing them into a hamper and stepping into the shower. My hand turned the handle, making the water slightly more hot.

Afterwards, my bathroom became a sauna with the mirrors covered by the steam.
I wrapped a soft robe around my body and tied it then used a separate towel to wipe a chunk of steam off the mirror to see my reflection.

15 minutes later

I was hidden under my blanket with my head barely peaking out from underneath. My lights were turned off except from the light of my phone. I was on Instagram looking at some of the pictures from people who used to be close with me, but now they're at different schools. I wonder if they ever look at my pictures and question how my life is. I looked at pictures of them getting ready for their first day back to school and they seem happy enough. Meanwhile I'm worried of what's going to happen to me.

Normally I'd beg mom to let me stay home from the first day of school but not this time. It's as if I know what's going to happen.

"I don't wanna go back there, it's depressing" I thought.

Eventually I fell asleep but it was a long night. I was used to staying up until 1 in the morning but it's ok I guess, 10 pm isn't that bad.
