Avan's POV
"Once our home state of Virginia joined confederacy in 1861 it created....... "Blah. Blah. Blah.
I look over at Elena and saw Matt staring at her.  Aw Mattie. She starts to stare at the new kid and they basically have a staring contest. I text Bonnie.
'OMG Bon, new kid has that romance novel stare'
I then see her text Elena, 'HAWT-E staring at you'
Classic Bonnie.
Elena looks at her phone and smiles.

It's finally the end of the day Elena and I walk toward the cemetery per usual.
"Elena I can't believe you didn't even get his name!"
"Avan, why make such a big deal out of it? I'll see him again"
" I know but ugh you are so annoying." I smirk
"Yeah yeah whatever." she returns the smirk
She sits down by our parents graves.
"Ugh Elena I'm bored I'm gonna walk over here."
"Do whatever you want."
"Fine I will."
As I walk over to a big head stone I hear the sound of a crow and I turn around. I see Elena shooing a crow. It flies behind her. I turn back around and see the silhouette of a man. I walk towards him.
"Avan lets go!"
We both start running and I turn around and the man is gone. We keep running until Elena trips. I help her up but when I look up I see the new guy.
"Holy shit you scared me!" I said really loud
"Sorry she has no manners whatsoever." Elena side glanced at me.
"I can't help I don't care what people think of me." I smile sarcastically.
"Anyway were you- uh following us?"
"No I just saw you fall."
"Oh and you just happened to be hanging out in a cemetery?" I say sarcastically
"Uh I'm visiting, I have family here." He said sadly
"Ugh tactless. I'm sorry the fog is making me foggy. And there was this bird back there and it was all very Hitchcock for a second." She rambled as I rolled my eyes," I'm Elena."She smiled
"I'm Stefan." He said, returning the smile
"I know. We have history together."
"And English and French." He added
"And I'm Avangeline but everyone calls me Avan."
"Uh nice to meet you." He chuckled
"Nice ring." Elena commented
"It's a family ring kinda stuck with it.... Weird huh?"
"Well I mean there's rings then there's that." Elena laughed
"Can you get anymore awkward with your obvious flirting?" I said laughing
"Uh did you hurt yourself?" He asked Elena, ignoring me
"I don't know lets see..." She said pulled up her jeans revealing a bloody scratch.
"Oh that is not pretty." I saw Stefan turn around.
"Uh you should go take care of that."
"Really it's nothing." We both turned around and he was gone.

"Elena! I'm leaving to go to the grill. Meet me there. Tell Jenna where I'm going." I walked out the door to my blue bug and drove to the Mystic Grill.

"Hey Mattie." I walked up to him and Tyler.
"Hey Av. I missed you." He said giving me a big bear hug. As I glared at Tyler, Vicki walked up.
"Do you need another refill?" She flirted with Ty.
"Thanks. I'd love one." He smirked
"Please tell me you're not hooking up with my sister."
"Yeah tell him Ty." I smirked
He glared at me," I'm not hooking up with your sister."
"You're such a dick." I laughed

"His name is Stefan Salvatore, he hasn't lived here since he was a kid....." Caroline rambled on about Stefan while I walked next to Bonnie. While I zoned out on Caroline, I saw a dark haired guy wearing a leather jacket at the bar. He looked familiar. I had this feeling... Like I was drawn to him.
"Drowning your sorrows?" I asked him as I sat down at the bar, "what he's having.... Thanks Justin." I said to the bartender, sending him a flirty smile.
"Nope just debating the importance of family." He said sarcastically. He looked up for the first time and I looked into his blue eyes. I could see confusion and shock in his eyes.
"I'll drink to that." I said downing the bourbon in front of me.
"How about another round... If you tell me your name." He smirked

"How about another time. I'm about to go meet some friends but what should I call you when that happens?" I smiled
"Damon." He smirked and did this eye thing.
"Damon... I like it. Bye Damon." I said smiling

"So you're from mystic falls?" Bonnie asked
"Yes, and moved when I was still young." Stefan responded
"Parents?"
"Uh my parents passed away."
"I'm sorry." Elena responded sympathetically while I wanted to get up and leave," any siblings?"
"None that I talk to, I live with my uncle."
"So Stefan, If you're new then you don't know about the party tomorrow." I finally said
"It's a back to school thing at the falls." Bonnie added
"Are you going?" He asked Elena
"Of course she is." Bonnie and I said at the same time smirking at each other.
