~The Sorting Hat Put Me In...!~

Me, Harry, Ron, and Hermione were rowing in our boats to get to Hogwarts as a big boat which was carrying Hagrid was next to us. We were going really slow so I tried doing something I hadn't done in a while. I focused on the water and tried to move the current faster. "What are you doing?" Hermione asked confused. I kept concentrating on the water as my boat started going faster and faster. "Whoa! How did you do that?" Harry and Ron asked, astonished by the way the water under my boat was moving rapidly. "Well......." I said before getting rocketed all the way to the docks at Hogwarts.

I rubbed my head as I groaned in pain feeling a bump form on my head. I had slammed my head into the dock when I reached it. I grabbed onto the pole and tried to climb out of my boat but fell into the water instead. I instantly jumped up to where my head was above water as I gasped for air. I could hear giggles and snickers from behind me. I looked back to see Malfoy and his friends were laughing really hard as one almost fell out themselves.

I glared as I tried to get up on the dock. By the time I did, they were already getting off their boats. I was soaked from head to toe. Dripping with water, I walked beside Harry and Hermione. Ron had to stop to stop laughing so I just left and they followed. "Jerk..." I mumbled under my breath as I walled through the doors of Hogwarts. "Wow!" Harry said as he admired the view of the huge room. We continued on to the Great Hall. There were four tables that started by the door and ended at the end of the room, where all the staff sat.

All the first years were walking to the front of the room as all the other students were staring at us. Everyone's eyes were glued to me as some smirked and some laughed at seeing me as the only one soaked. I glared at the room full of wizards and witches. We all stopped at the front of the room as a man stood to his feet. He had grey long hair and a long grey beard. "Hello Children, and welcome staff!" He said in a loud voice which boomed across the room. "We are all happy to see you all again in another year at Hogwarts. We are also proud to see all the new first years." He said smiling at us and the rest of the room.

"So, I'm happy to say that we are going to have Hagrid, our gate keeper, as our new Care of Magical Creatures teacher, though this won't be available till 2 years pass." He said as everybody was clapping as Hagrid sat down. Me and Harry probably clapped the loudest. "Now, I pass the attention to Professor McGonagall!" He said as she came to the front and set a hat on a stool. "We are now going to sort all the new first years into the houses. Now, keep in mind that the houses consist of, Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw." She said as she directed the first person to sit on the stool to get sorted.

'Hufflepuff, Slytherin, Slytherin, Gryffindor, Gryffindor, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Slytherin!" The sorting hat said as he went through the kids. Next was Harry. He sat on the stool. He looked pale as the hat spoke to him in his head. "Gryffindor!" The hat yelled as he instantly smiled and gained color. Hermione and Ron got Gryffindor too. "Next, Dawn Marigold!" Prof. McGonagall said as I sat down. 'So lets see, You have the courage of a Gryffindor. But you have the intelligence of a Ravenclaw. But you have the willpower to stay strong and keep going...' He said in my head. "Hufflepuff!" He yelled loudly as my eyes lit up.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione sat there with their mouths hanging open. I got up, took the hat off, and sat it down as I walked over to the Hufflepuff tables as All the Hufflepuffs cheered. 'How could this have happened?' I lost all focus in listening to all the others be sorted. 'Muffliato...' I thought as all the sounds around me disappeared. After awhile, I disbanded the spell and began eating. "Hey, you're Dawn Marigold right?" A guys said sitting down next to me. "Y-yeah...... So wha..." I started but stopped when I looked up. Sitting next to me was the hottest person I've ever seen. "Cool, my name's Cedric Diggory!" He said.

Being me, I just sat there staring at him but soon stopped to say, "Oh, nice to meet you Cedric...." in a very shy tone as I blushed. "Well, I hope we can be great friends and get along well." He said with a big smile. "So, did you think you were gonna get put in Hufflepuff?" He asked as we continued to eat. "Well...... actually no. I thought I would be in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. But Hufflepuff's fine I guess." I replied. He laughed as he saw me go for thirds. "What? Is there something in my hair or something?" I asked. "No, you just went for thirds right?" He asked.

I blushed. "Don't judge a girl with her eating habits! RUDE!!!" I said slightly punching his shoulder. He laughed as he took a sip of his juice. We were dismissed as we went to the common rooms. Our's was by the kitchen. We had to tap a stack of barrels in a correct order and in a certain tone. Once we entered, my eyes widened. There was a big room with bookshelves and tables along with a couch and a love seat. I walked over to the couch and sat down as the others were in bunches of small groups.

Cedric was walking over as I was getting sleepy. He sat down beside me and poked my shoulder. "Hey, if you're sleepy, go to the dormitory." He said as I opened my eyes and looked at him sadly. "But, I wanna lay here. I'm so sleepy." I said as I sat up. He looked at my shirt under my cloak and uniform. "Is that a Quidditch shirt? You like Quidditch?" He asked. "Well, I've never played but I've seen people play it." I said. "Alright! Bed time. Off you all go!" A professor said.

We all got up and went to our dorms and got changed. I got in bed but couldn't sleep. 'What is tomorrow gonna hold for me to explore?' I thought before drifting off into a deep sleep.
