Carlota’s P.O.V.
I went out with the guys that could make it because we only got one night without curfew and I wasn’t about to let it go to waste. Miguel wasn’t able to make it and I was thankful because I didn’t feel like having him clinging to me all night.
From the house, everyone came. The guys from Barcelona were Gómez (he and Janina were a thing now), Denis (who danced with about five girls at once) and obviously, Samper. He and Ana María were making kissy faces at each other, otherwise hidden from view except that I was purposefully keeping an eye on them.
Suddenly, Samper separated from her and answered his phone. He led her to where I was sitting which was a little quieter, to talk. “Ok, ok. I’m right here between the tall tables.” He said into the phone in catalan. I furrowed my brow and he explained “I’m waiting for some friends.” He laced his fingers with Ana’s when two men came into the room, one way taller than the other. When they looked up, I almost fell from my chair.
Ana and I looked at each other and I guessed we thought the same thing. Sergi Roberto and Marc Bartra. He let go of Ana’s hand so he could say hi to them. They high-fived and hugged and, as Samper introduced her to them, Bartra’s gaze shifted to me. I was frozen for that millisecond but then he looked away. Only to do a double-take and smile at me, keeping his tongue behind his teeth like I always saw he did in pictures. I smiled back and I felt an instant connection. One I’d never felt with anyone before.
The rest of our crew came into the room and Samper introduced everyone to them. Ana María was almost drooling over Sergi Robero because, admittedly, the man was much more beautiful in person. She only had eyes for Samper, though and I knew she wasn’t like that. Since I was sitting and behind everyone, I was left for last. Samper forgot about me and, even though no one else was paying attention, Ana María stepped in to introduce me.
“Oh, and this is my best friend from back home, Carlota.” I thanked her for not mentioning my fandom for Barcelona. I didn’t want Marc to know. At least not yet. Sergi kissed my cheek politely and said hi. Marc, on the other hand, stepped in behind him and took my hand in his, kissing the back of it while bowing. I felt my cheeks turning red as he looked up at me from under his eyebrows and smiled that dazzling smile. “Very nice to meet you, Carlota.” He said but in Catalan. I thought this time I would fall over from the chair for sure. “You want to dance?” He asked switching back to Castellano, straightforward as they come. “I’d love to.”
                              Ana María’s P.O.V.
Carlota had already told me about the stuff with Bañuz so I was glad she and Bartra were hitting it off. I was still a little overwhelmed by Sergi Roberto’s presence. I’m a particularly huge fan of his, even though I’m a Madridista. He stayed and talked with us, mostly in Catalan. I was able to keep up with most of it. There were a few words I didn’t quite catch but I was able to capture the essence.
Sergi Roberto sat beside me on a barstool and Samper stood beside me, his arm around my waist. Sergi left to get us more drinks and I was left alone with Sergi Roberto. I felt my heart race because even though I was living a fairytale with Samper, no one could make me forget the amount of hours I spent watching pictures and videos of him, watching him play even if it was for the rival team because I thought he was that good.
I looked around the club and tried to avert his gaze but he kept staring at me. “Samper is one lucky guy.” “What?” I pretended like I couldn’t hear over the music but it wasn’t loud here at all and he wasn’t falling for it. “You heard me. You’re beautiful. You have this gypsy vibe about you. It’s very attractive.” I felt faint as he said this staring straight into my eyes. I wish someone had been recording that.
“Thank you.” I said, looking down. “Oh, but don’t get me wrong. I would never make a move on you. He’s my friend.” He said, pointing in the direction he had just left. Yes, and I feel like a slut for thinking I’m not so ok with that. And, oh yeah, GOD YOU’RE SO SEXY. “I know you wouldn’t.” Was all I could muster as Sergi came back with the drinks. “Thanks.” Sergi Roberto thanked him for his strange, artisan beer.
“Non-alcoholic for the lady.” He handed me a Diet Coke with a hint of lemon because he knows I don’t drink. “Thank you.” I smiled at him and he unexpectedly bent down to press his lips against mine. It was short but authoritative. He obviously felt threatened by Sergi Roberto. Then again, what man wouldn’t? I smiled at him as he resumed his position beside me and wrapped his arm even firmer around my body.
I saw Marc and Carlota coming our way and they were both laughing about something. As they reached us, Marc said to Sergi: “We should go. It’s getting late.” “Yeah. We’re just on a really short leash and we have to get to sleep early. Training tomorrow.” Explained Sergi Roberto as he got up from his chair. “Very nice to meet you, Ana María. Carlota.” He embraced Samper and said: “Take care, man. See you soon.” Sergi Roberto left and Marc said goodbye to me then proceeded to hug Samper goodbye. He then turned to say goodbye to Carlota and he placed his hand on her cheek, kissing the other sweetly. I almost squealed as he smiled and left her standing there; not standing, more like floating.
