Amy and Gus were invited as well which I thought was nice. We all go shopping after breakfast to get outfits for tomorrow. Amy chooses a light green pantsuit. Gus just comes along for the ride; he already has a suit waiting at home.
I am torn in-between two different dresses. One is a dark blue tight knee-length number. The other is light pink, flowy, and sheer. They’re probably exact opposites, but they both look pretty dang good. In the end, Amy lets me buy both. Whichever I don’t wear to graduation I can wear somewhere else.
We grab some lunch at the mall. Those Auntie Anne pretzels, whoa. The cinnamon ones dipped in cheese…too delicious for words.
“Why don’t you ever make these?” I ask Gus while starting in on my third pretzel. “I’ve been pretzel deprived,” I accuse.
“Because Auntie Anne’s is the best,” he replies.
“True dat,” I respond with my mouth full of pretzel goodness.
While at the mall, we also buy some stuff for Matty’s room. When we get home, we lug all of our spoils upstairs. I stash my new clothes into the closet and go into the room next door through the conjoining bathroom. It’s going to be Matt’s new room.
Amy is already in there planning. She’s speedy. First we put plastic on the carpet and tape the walls. Neither of us is too artistic, but we manage to paint a cool mural. We painted tall grass on the wall and blue sky with clouds. It‘s a neat effect. We got some drapes that match the color of the sky and installed them on the window. Then we brought in a queen bed and bed frame. The comforter looks like a small pond full of tropical fish. We hang a flat screen on the wall facing the bed. On the night stand, we put a clock that projects the time onto the ceiling and a framed picture of me and Matt. I hope he likes the décor! Amy and I stand back to take the room in. I say it’s a job well done.
I spend the rest of the day getting pumped for tomorrow. Reunited with my Matty! I brainstorm what to get him. I probably should’ve got something while we were at the mall…oops. Too late. I consider playing him something on the piano, but then it would seem like I’m copying his idea-that’s no good. I could get him something clichéd, like a watch. But that’s not very original. I want my gift to be unique and blow his socks off.
I’m still raking my brain for ideas when Amy pops her head in my room and tells me to go to sleep. She turns off my light when she leaves. I’m getting better at being in the dark; I don’t even need the closet light anymore. I still picked up a small nightlight at the mall though. I glance at the time. Yikes! Amy was right, it’s getting pretty late. Tomorrow is gonna be a big day. I wonder if Matt’ll get any sleep…

It’s not even that early when Amy wakes me up, but since I’ve been getting up on my own accord, I’m not jazzed to be waking up at 7:30. I think I might’ve even taken a swing at Amy. I’m not even kidding. Morning Charlie is not a very happy Charlie. Apparently she’s violent too.
“Only for you Matt,” I mutter darkly. I roll out of bed and walk like zombie-like down to breakfast. I think I had hot chocolate and a chocolate croissant, but I barely remember. I was still half-asleep.
I shuffle upstairs to take a shower. As usual, the hot water from the shower wakes me up. I choose the blue dress. I put on some low navy-blue wedges and some fishnets. I even curl my hair.
I wonder how many people are going to be at Matty’s graduation. Mine only had three, but that’s not normal. Matt seems like a fairly social guy; he’s probably going to have some friends from his school on Earth as well as friends from Moon Academy. Plus all of his family. He doesn’t really talk about them too much, but he must have siblings. I hope we get good seats.
I still haven’t gotten Matt anything. I guess I’ll tell him that I’m still working on it. Hopefully he won’t get his hopes up too much. I’m sure I’ll think of something spectacular soon.
At 8:15 we leave the house. It takes about half an hour to get there and we want to be able to sit together. We take the larger hovercar that I was picked up at the airport in. I offered to drive us. We all had a laugh over that one.
When Dustin drops us off, Amy tells him that we’ll be back at 9pm. He nods and promptly leaves. I can tell that Dustin is a man of few words. I suppose I could ask him to teach me to drive, but that seems weird. Plus I doubt that he can actually socialize for long amounts of time.
At 9 o’clock sharp, we board the shuttle. I sit in-between Amy and Gus. I hold their hands for the take-off. In five hours, I’ll see Matt. I can hardly wait.
