Chapter 1: Training

"Concentrate, boys. Feel your energy flow through your veins. At this rate, you wouldn't stand a chance against a phantom or a dream! Silas, let Kaden concentrate, it's not easy being a telepath. Zackary, let your moves flow, let your spark fill you, empower you," Seth instructed. His sons were almost ready for their destiny, the destiny of all the Chosen Ones. Well, all except the Turned, the very Ones they had to rival against... "Silas, haven't I told you about freezing your brothers? Now I have to thaw Zackary without burning his face clean off!" Seth complained. If only he could thaw, I wouldn't worry so much, but this is the fifth time today! Seth thought.

Just then, Aria came out of the house. "Boys, time for lunch, I made peach cobbler and roast hen," she said in her singsong voice. All three boys, Zackary in the lead and Silas not far behind him, scrambled up the porch steps to the cottage, which was purposely hidden in a forgotten hillside. Seth walked up the steps. Before he could get inside, however, Aria stopped him. "I'm worried about the boys. To think they have no idea what's ahead of them."

Seth simply replied "They'll know soon enough. Plus, remember, it's safer for them as long as they don't know. The sooner they know the sooner the Veil stops protecting them from scryers."

"They'll know sometime this week, though, right," she glared at Seth.

"Sure, if that's when you want them to find out. We can tell them after they're done eating," he replied. "Can we eat now?"

The Dreamveil family hastily ate their lunch (which was quite delicious) and gathered in the living room. They had a rather unusual habit of always sitting in the same spot in the living room, with Kaden and Silas next to their mother on the couch, and Zackary next to his father on the armchair.

"There's something your mother and I have been waiting to tell you. It's very important, so no goofing off. I'm talking to you, Silas."

"Long ago, in the lost land of Trebania, there were five kingdoms, each ruled by a Chosen One.  Their names were Sien the Righteous, Fraun the Warm-Hearted, Vernanda the Green-Thumbed, Enfrigo the Storm Bringer, and Melisandre the Dead-Eyed. Sien was a light bringer, like your mother. Fraun was a burner. Vernanda was a vine charmer. Enfrigo was a tornado charmer. Lastly, Melisandre was a reanimator. Their descendants were also known as Chosen Ones. The main job of these rulers was to keep the demon prison, Ceona, locked for all eternity. Ceona's prisoners are the most ruthless, cold-blooded killers ever to walk the face of the earth," Aria explained. "The Chosen Ones were the only ones who knew of this cursed place, as well as being the only ones who knew the Verses that, if sung in the right order, would open the prison. When they died, the person who killed them learned the Verse. If they have not been killed, their oldest child inherited the Verse. That, however, took very long, because Chosen Ones can live up to twenty thousand years, assuming they're not killed. A Chosen One who has a Verse is called an Omega Chosen One. An Omega Chosen One can also forfeit their Verse. Even with the knowledge of the cruelty of the prisoners, some descendants decided to attempt to unleash them on the world. These descendants were from then on known as the Turned. A great War began. As well as many Chosen Ones, many Turned died in this war. Even today, the War still rages on, the War between the fates of the world."

Chapter 2: The Wraith

"Well, I suppose you boys took it quite well. Quick, this just means you'll have to train harder. Aria, you're welcome to watch. First they're going to duel each other, then, they'll fight off a wraith."
