Chapter 1: Wrecked Childhood Dream

Prologue

Hi! I'm Lucas Hirome, I'm just your average 16-year-old high school student. I am half-Japanese, half-American. I live in Kyoto, Japan with my father, Riku Hirome and my younger brother and sister, Lilith and Lemuel, who are fraternal twins. My mom, Alexandra Hirome is in North America, where she is a fashion designer.

Ever since I was a kid, many people asked me what I wanted to be... it was a question with no certain answer.

But I had an uncle who I idolized.
Orion Brown, a world-renowned scientist, and the best uncle a kid could ask for.

But on March 26, ten years ago, he was assassinated. In his funeral, I promised him that I will follow in his footsteps and become a scientist he can be proud of.

Present

Oh shez, shez, SHEZ!!!

"Dammit! I overslept!" I thought as I ran down the stairs to our dining room. It's already 8:20!

"Oh. Good morning Lucas." Oto-san¹ greeted me as he saw me.

"Oh, eat breakfast before you leave nii-chan². Don't want you to collapse while in class." My little brother, Lemuel told me.

"Rem-kun, can't you see Lucas-nii is in a hurry? His class starts in 8:30." Lilith, his twin sister answered him, all the while eating her toast with eggs, ham and bacon.

As I landed on the flight of the stairs, I ran to the table, got my toast and bag, and proceeded to the door to wear my shoes.

As I was wearing my shoes, Oto-san called out to me, all the while bringing my sky-blue headband.

"Here." Oto-san said as he handed it to me. "I know it's important to you, I mean Orion-san³ gave it to you. It'd be a disaster if you forgot it."

I smiled at Oto-san as thanks. I immediately stood up after tying my shoes, I tied my headband as quickly as possible, and rushed to the door.

Oh yeah! I almost forgot!

I stopped outside the doorway so suddenly even Oto-san was shocked.

"Did you forget something Lucas?" Oto-san asked me.

I removed the toast from my mouth and smiled at him.

"Yeah. Just one thing though."

With a deep breath, I said, loud and clear for them to know.

"Oto-san, Rem-kun, Riri-chan, I'm leaving!"

Oto-san was taken aback, but then he smiled and nodded back at me.

"Take care, Lucas."

"Go, Lucas-nii! It's already 8:26!" Riri-chan shouted from the table.
I waved as I started to run down the hall of our apartment, took the stairs and dashed out of the building.

New year, new beginnings, and now that I'm in Senior High already, I will graduate as the valedictorian and make everyone proud!

But, I didn't know that in this new semester, my life will change drastically.

Yo! First and foremost, I want thank you for reading my story, as this is my first one. Anyways, let's get straight to the point.

I'm sure that there are some terms which you don't understand. Since the story setting is in Japan, I decided that I should use the terms.

Terms & their meaning:

¹Oto-san: Means Father or Dad
²Nii-chan: Means Big Brother
Lucas-nii: Big Brother Lucas

Honorifics:
-are used after names, and each honorific indicate a certain level of respect

-san: Equivalent to Mr., Ms., & Mrs.,

-chan: Used to express cuteness, commonly used for girls.

-kun: Used to express familiarity, commonly used for boys.

So, I guess that was it... oh wait! Trivia: Japanese pronounce "L" as "R", so... yeah.
