Invisible

The locket with wings-prologue

I can see ghosts.

I have seen ghosts for my whole life. And today, me and a few if my ghost friends are moving to a new house.

We're in the car right now "Lola! Stop sticking your head out the window of the car!" I shout at my ghost friend "Caspar! STOP TICKLING ME!" I shout at my other ghost friend while wriggling about and laughing.

My mum looks at me from the passenger seat, Caspar and Lola stop what they're doing and sort themselves out, then we all grin. "Kylie, please stop talking to your imaginary friends, you've already turned 9, and don't have any real friends."

"But mum, they are real" I say politely in my normal British accent. My mum just raises her eyebrows and nods.

Soon i find myself in a deep sleep.

U wake up to my mums voice, telling me to wake up. I nod in realisation that we're here.

I run into the house straight up the stairs, with Caspar and Laura following me, to our new room. Inside there are 3 single beds pushed together to make 1 big bed. We push the three beds apart so that we have our own beds each, after setting our room up we jump on our beds.

1 year later

"Ready or not here i come!" I shout at the hiding ghosts. We are currently playing hide and seek, know its a bit babyish for a kid my age, but so what.

Once i find them, which may i add was extremely easy, my mum calls me.

I run downstairs and my mum points at the seat in front of her, i sit and she says "happy birthday Kylie" she says seriously, i smile at  her "since you are now ten, i think you need the real reason we moved here. When you were a baby, we found you on our doorstep" my jaw drops. I never knew i was adopted "1 year ago, we got a letter, supposedly from your real family, it said that there was a locket that if you opened it, you would be cursed, it didn't say what type of curse, just that you would be cursed, and since we found you at our old house i thought that the locket would probably be there... And so we moved." im so mad at my parents for not telling me before that i run upstairs into my room and flop down on my bed.

3 YEARS LATER...

im not mad at my parents anymore... Just disapointed. I wish they hadnt kept the secret from me but i understand that they were just trying to keep me safe. anyways... Today we are having a sort out, we were supposed to do that when we moved here but we never got round to doing it.

@"Caspar, can you look through that box?" i ask while pointing to the box in the corner of the attic ,the place we were assigned to look through. he nods and looks through it "Lola, can you look through that one"I say pointing to the one in the opposite corner, she runs over to it and checks. 

Just as i'm about to check the box in the center of the room, caspar shouts "Guys! Look at this!" we run over to him. he is holding a locket in his hand. on the locket it says 'Kylie' and above my name, which was an extreme coincidence that it was on there, the word 'invisible but true'. "It says Kylie, so i think Kylie should open it." he grins handing over the locket.

I look at the guys with my 'are-you-sure-about-this' look. they glare at me, and then nod excitedly. i slowly take the locket from Caspars hands. I brush my fingers over it.

"GET ON WITH IT ALREADY!" they both say in unision. I give them the death glare. then i open it.

I hear a big crash. and suddenly i black out. Soon after i hear my mum and dad calling the police saying that im lost. I stand up with Caspar and Lola by my side, and walk downstairs "Mum, Dad. Im right here!" they keep on crying not listening to me. then i remember what mum said- the locket-the curse- i was cursed...

right then memories of when i was a baby high-fived me in the face.

*flashback starts*

"Caspar, Lola, take care of Kylie, please, i know both of you are only 1 years old, but you two are the only ones i can trust, my sisters daughter, and my best friends son. please take care of her!" my biological mother shouts. Lola and Caspar nod, not knowing what to say. then she runs off with Caspar, Lola and I cradled in her arms. "Now, I dont think she will take 3 children in, and all of you need to be together. so im afraid Caspar and Lola have to have a curse. If she opens this locket, she will be cursed to be invisible for her whole life, until someone can finally see her. so she can NOT open it ok?" they nod sensing her pain. she hugs both of them and puts her hands on their backs. suddenly a bright blue light gleams for her hands and nothing happens, well at least i dont think it happens...

she kisses my head and says bye to Caspar, Lola and I, "Bye Aunty Maria" Caspar says while waving she runs off and Lola knocks on the door. A lady comes out.

she looks at me. reads the note that was attached to my wrist. and gasps. "Come on, Kylie, this will be your new home. My name is Reese, and this is my husband, Michael." i giggle as she takes me inside...

*flashback over*

im cursed. to be invisible for life. and i cant do anything about it.
