"Lexa!" Clarke yells in my face as she opens the door to her house. She quickly embraces me with a big smile on her face. "Hey Clarke." I whisper in her hair. She releases me but as soon as she does her boyfriend Bellamy grabs hold of me and pulls me into an embrace. I try to escape it but sadly he is stronger than I am.

The kitchen is a mixture of cigarettes and beer. Clarke takes her seat on the counter top and lights a cigarette. I join as Bellamy walks over to grab a beer. I can't help but stair at Clarke, she's so beautiful. Clarke notices and blows a puff of smoke in my face before handing me the cigarette, which I take. She lights herself a new one as I take a drag out of the one she handed me.

"Let's go to the field" Bellamy suggests bringing me out of my trance. "Sure. You down Lex?" She looks at me while jumping off the counter and smiles. "Um...yeah sure. Let's go" I fake a smile at both him and Clarke when he puts his arm around her. She comes over to me and puts her hands on my legs before taking my hands and helping me down. She then takes her spot in Bellamy's arms once again.

Clarke dance doesn't help my feelings. That's the one thing I've learned throughout the years. She dances to the music that's playing through Bellamy's phone as he hits a baseball off a tee. I just stand there, admiring Clarke. I think she notices because she gets a bit closer and stares at me directly as she dances.

"Lex. Join me?" She asks, reaching her hand out towards me. "I don't dance Clarke. You know that." This doesn't stop her though. She pulls me towards her. Luckily Bellamy is already drunk so he doesn't even notice. Clarke grinds up on me, and even though I like it I peel her off of me. "Clarke. Bell is right there." I whisper to her. She just frowns at me and nods before walking over to Bellamy.

Clarke and I are sitting in the bathroom doing each other's nails. As she paints mine I just stare at her. Clarke and I have known each other forever but over time I started to develop feelings for her, but then Bellamy came along and fucked everything up.

"Lex. Are you excited for the party?" Clarke asks excitedly. "Do you want me to be completely honest?" She nods before setting the nail polish down and looking me dead in the eye. "No, not really. I miss us hanging out together alone." I frown and so does she. "Me too." She says before jumping into my lap and hugging me. Her knees are pressed up against the tile floor but the rest of her body is on me. "I promise we'll hang out soon." She whispers in my ear. I nod into her hair. We sit there for a while before Bellamy says people are starting to arrive.

"Come on Clarke!" Bellamy yells as he pulls her off the couch. Clarke and I were just laughing and joking, but of course Bellamy had to come a ruin it. "Bell no. Not right now" she struggles out of his embrace, but he just grabs her again. "Come on babe. The rooms are empty for us." He says and rubs his face into her hair. She gives me a look before she finally gets away from him. "Damn bitch. Be that way." He says before walking away.

Clarke just stairs in front of her and I take another drink from my cup. "I'm sorry Clarke, he's such an ass." I whisper to her. She just ignores me and I take it as a sign of her telling me to shut up. I suddenly feel her take my hand. I look at our hands and then up to her, she is still just facing forward, but there's a small smirk on her face.

As I walk down the hall of picture frames I can't help but smile. Most of them are of Clarke and I or we were together when they were taken. Clarke and I met when she was 5 and I was 6.

Flashback

"LEXA! Catch!" My best friend Anya yells to me. She throws a ball at me but of course I'm too late and it goes flying over my head and towards the swing set. "Go get it Lexa! Recess is almost over! HURRY!" She yells at me. I run over to the ball but notice a blonde headed girl in the corner crying. A big boy standing above her pulling her hair.

"HEY!" I tell and run over to her. The boy lets go of her and walk up to me. "What are you going to do little girl. Tell on me?" He mocks me. I just stomp on his foot and he cries out in pain before hopping away.

"Hey are you ok?" I kneel down beside her. As I do so, she knocks me down and hugs me tight. "I got you know, everything's going to be alright. I'll protect you." I coo her.

We sit there for a bit until the recess bell rings. "Hey the bell rang. We should probably go back inside before we get in trouble." I tell her, helping her up. "Ok" she says with a frown. I start to walk away with her following close behind. I walk her to her class room just to make sure she gets there safe. "I'll see you around" I smile before heading off to my class. "Wait!" She yells and I turn around. "What's your name?" She asks me. "I'm Lexa Woods. What's yours?"
"Clarke Griffin!" She says smiling before walking back into her kindergarten class.

END OF FLASHBACK

Ever since then Clarke and I have always been super close. Hanging out every weekend, laughing, crying, shopping, watching movies. Everything. But then I started devolving feelings for the blonde, but I always assumed she never felt the same so I never tried anything. Then she brought a boy names Bellamy Blake home and he ruined everything. I cried myself to sleep the night she told me he asked her out and she said yes. I cried even more when she agreed to be his girlfriend. And I cried the hardest I've ever cried when she told me that she loved him. I knew I should be happy for her, but I couldn't.

I realized I started to tear up so I left the hall with the pictures and into the living room. It was empty except for Bellamy passed out on the chair.

I saw Clarke sitting outside by the pool and went out by her. As soon as I sat down she rested her head on me. We didn't say anything, it wasn't an uncomfortable silence, but more of an enjoying each others presence type of thing. I felt her lean up into me and I slightly moved away.

She finally looked all the way up and looked into my eyes. We got closer and closer. My heart pounded as we were centimeters away from each others lips. Until I feel some one pull my hair back, hard. I fall back onto the rocks and only hear muffled voice.

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME!" Get up Lexa. "WITH ALL PEOPLE? HER? DON'T EVEN TRY TO DEFEND YOURSELF IN FRONT OF ME" Lexa you gotta get up. He's in her face stop him. "JUST KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. YOU'VE DONE ENOUGH" I see her look at me. "DON'T EVEN LOOK AT HER. LOOK AT ME!" LEXA! Get up! I scream at myself. "WHAT ARE YOU SOME DYKE OR SOMETHING?" I finally get up and start hitting him. For every punch I think of a memory.

Us at the beach. Us at the movies. Us doing each others make up. Us laughing together. Us crying together. How much I cried the night she told me about them.

I finally feel Clarke pull me off of him and pull me up to her level. She wipes the blood from my mouth before kissing me. The feeling I've been waiting for my whole life, and it feels great. When she finally pulls away we pull in for a hug. I will never forget today.
