Grady Memorial Hospital
36 Butler St. SE
Emergency Room
"Mr. Wilson? Mr. Wilson? Can you hear me?" Landon's eyes opened as the second distorted voice of the week filled his ears. Landon's memory was a foggy mess, He didn't remember anything after talking to Dr. Danielle Pierce, "Mr. Wilson, you are in the emergency room of Grady Memorial Hospital. Do you remember anything?"
"No." Landon said, his vision coming into focus. He was lying in a hospital bed, that much was evident because of how uncomfortable the bed was.
"I'm Dr. Blaine Andrews, and you were brought into the E.R. two days ago-" Landon's eyes shot up and stared at the doctor in disbelief, "Two days?!"
"Yes, Mr. Wilson." The doctor was holding a clipboard, and he glanced down at it, "You were brought in after you fell unconscious in front of your car."
The memories were coming back. The fight with Ian. The wondering eyes of the other officers. Walking to his car before everything went black, "I've been out for two days?" He asked again in disbelief.
"Yes, you were extremely sleep deprived. I'm surprised you were not suffering from hallucinations." The doctor explained, sitting the clipboard down on the counter next to where he was standing, "What has been keeping you awake?"
"I've been sleeping fine." Landon replied quickly, lying through his teeth.
"Mr. Wilson, that's a lie and we both know it-" Dr. Blaine Andrews was cut off by a nurse walking through the door. As the nurse came in, Landon could feel his face go a scarlet red. The nurse had short jet black hair and arms that nearly made the detective melt in his bed.
"They need you in the Trauma Unit, Doctor." Landon was having issues keeping his eyes off of the nurse. It was probably a good thing that he was faced the other way.
"Alright." Doctor Blaine Andrews stood up, picking up the clipboard, "Sleep is important, Mr. Wilson." The doctor turned around to leave but stopped and said a few words that made Landon thank the heavens. "Hunter, you're the nurse in charge of Landon."
The nurse nodded and the doctor left the room, leaving Landon and the hot nurse alone in the hospital room."How are you feeling, Detective? Any grogginess?" The nurse, Hunter, as the doctor had called him, asked calmly, setting a small glass bottle and a hypodermic needle on a small metal tray by the bed.
"I'd feel a whole lot better if you didn't stick a needle in me." The detective eyed the syringe and medicine nervously."You won't feel a thing, honey. All I'm gonna do is put in in your IV, let it get into your system, and then we'll get ready to move you upstairs to a regular room." Landon's face fell when he nurse told him he would be stuck here for a much longer period than he had intended.
'But I have a case to investigate!" He couldn't believe himself. He was almost thirty years old, a grown man, and he was whining.
"I'm sorry, darlin'. It's the law." He readied the needle, "You were out cold for two days, going on three. We cannot release you until at least a day of observation." Landon frowned and looked down at the bed, and then back up at Hunter."Do you call every strange man that you treat 'darlin'?" Hunter smirked and pushed the fluid into Landon's IV.
"Nah, only the cute ones." Landon felt his face burn red, even more so than when he first laid eyes on him. He felt like a child, unable to speak. He couldn't hide the fact that he was blushing like a Catholic schoolgirl, which, reminded him, he should probably go to Mass and thank the Blessed Mother Mary for sending some nice dick his way.
Hunter took the patient's silence as a sign that the medicine was starting to kick in. He took the needle and the empty medicine bottle over to the biohazard disposal. After disposing of the used medicine, he glanced back at the bed to see that the detective's head has dropped back against his pillow. The nurse stuck his head out of the door and waved over his friend, off duty ER doctor Olivia DelGrosso."Liv, help me upstairs with him please?" He asked, kicking his head over towards his sleeping patient. The female doctor nodded at Hunter before making her way down the hallway and into Landon's room.
After a moment, Hunter was pushing Landon out of his room and Dr. DelGrosso was right behind him with Landon's IV machine in hand. When they got into the elevator, Dr. Delgrosso finally broke the silence, "He's cute."
"Yeah, I know." Hunter smirked, resting against the bed frame as they traveled upward to the sixteenth floor of the hospital. He couldn't help but to notice the look of something that Hunter had nothing seen before, coming from Dr. DelGrosso, "What?" he raised his hands in innocence, "A man's gonna look, doc."
"What's the matter?" Hunter asked playfully, "Scared that the detective likes me more than you?" Olivia snorted and shook her head as the elevator doors opened."No, I'm just remembering the last cop you dated and you swore them off ever again because they get hurt to easily."
"Listen, Marissa was an exception." Hunter pushed Landon out of the elevator, "Even if, do you see this man? I'd be stupid not to do anything." He started down the hallway with Olivia following. Olivia chuckled, "Alright, hustler. What room is your boyfriend in?" "Room 33" After setting up the detectives IV, they left the room and stopped to talk in the hallway, "So, what are you going to do now? You don't work on this floor, Nurse." "I have my ways, doctor. Remember? I'm the boss!" Hunter smirked before setting off back to the elevator.

Grady Memorial Hospital
36 Butler St. SE
Sixteenth Floor- Room 33
Detective Landon Wilson's eyes opened once more and his heart fell when he realized he was in a different room without the hot nurse from earlier. He wasn't alone, though. Detective Ian Taylor sat in a chair beside his bed, "Ian? What time is it?"
"Ten minutes after ten." Ian replied before changing the subject, "How are you feeling, Landon?"
"I feel like I am actually tired of sleep. I want to get out of this bed."
"If you would sleep like a normal human being, you wouldn't be here."
"I do sleep like a normal human being, just I don't sleep as much as a normal human being."
Ian did not laugh at Landon's joke, "That's the problem. It's not okay to joke like this. The Captain said if you don't get your shit together, she's gonna have no other choice. She's gonna have to fire you."
"Fire me?!" Landon looked over to Ian. Landon could usually hold his temper, but his job was being threatened because he was doing his job.
"You passed out in front of your car, Landon. Imagine if you would've done that with another detective or a suspect in the car."
"I-" Landon began but Ian cut him off, "Don't you tell me that you don't need a babysitter. I'm tired of it. You obviously do need one if you're falling asleep while standing up!"
"I'm just doing my job!" Landon yelled, his voice echoing in the dimly lit room.
"You're working yourself too hard, Landon!" Ian yelled back, "I mean, how much sleep have you gotten in the past two weeks?!"
Landon shook his head, "I'm done arguing about this. How's the case coming along?"
Ian's expression went from angry to shocked, he wasn't expecting Landon to ask about it.. With a spark of curiosity, he opened his mouth to speak again, "What is it?"
Ian replied almost instantly, "Nothing." He was obviously hiding something. Landon's curiosity sparked once more and it turned into a flame, "What happened?"
Before Ian could answer again, the nurse from earlier came in, a jacket over his scrub top, he looked angry, "What is going on in here?"
"Nothing, I'm just leaving." Ian replied, standing up from the chair and heading for the door, "Get some rest, Landon." He said without looking back at him.
Landon didn't respond, instead he just stared at his partner as he walked out of the hospital room. After a moment, Hunter broke the silence, "Is there anything I can get you Landon?"
He thought of replying but he couldn't form words, he was too deep in thought. Why had Ian reacted so weird to the question about the case? It took a moment before Landon realized what had happened. Another victim had been found.
