Forensic Psychology (Spencer Reid/Criminal Minds AU)

"Bam!" I hear my pistol as I hit the target right in the middle. It is my last week of FBI training before I move onto intelligence training. I am ready to move onto the Behavioral Analysis Unit, but realistically I am going to have to be in another unit until a position opens up. Ever since my first psychology class in high school, I have wanted to be a criminal profiler. Before that, I wanted to be a lawyer but I became so interested in Psychology. Even though there are many types of psychologist, I thought if I wanted to pursue psychology I would have to be a shrink. To put it delicately, I am not a people person so that wasn't an option.

One day my psychology teacher pulled me aside and said to me "you should consider psychology as a career. You are the only person in this classroom that has a passion for this".

I then replied, "I don't want to be a shrink"

"Well what do you want to do?"

"I want to be a lawyer"

"You should look into forensic psychology. It combines law enforcement and psychology"

After that I studied psychology at a local Christian college and got my PHD in Forensic Psychology at the biggest Psychology university in Texas. After I graduated I got plenty of job offers from police departments all over the country. I eventually decided that the FBI was were I wanted to be.

"Sharon!"I hear Chief Darren call for me.

I huff because he interrupted my shooting practice and he has never gotten my name right. At this point I think he is getting my name wrong on purpose, just to piss me off. I put my gun on safety, set it in it's case, and I take off my ear protection. I then walk over to the Chief and standing next to him is a young African American man who is extremely attractive (there have been a lot of attractive men here but he takes the cake) and an older man who wears a serious expression and I can't seem to imagine him smiling, ever.

"Um sir," I say to Chief Darren, "My name isn't Sharon it is pronounced Shuroan. It's hebrew"

Names are important to me because it is more telling about a person than one would think. When a parent names their child it is like they are instilling a destiny into them. For example, my full name is Quinn Socrates (I'm not kidding) Sharon. Quinn comes from the Gaelic surname Conn which means wisdom, reason, or intelligence. Socrates is a wise Greek philosopher and some say that he birthed psychology through his student Plato, which Plato later instilled in Aristotle. My last name, Sharon is a Hebrew name and the only famous people with that last name are from Israel. It is very prominent in the bible as well. That name is important to my Jewish relatives and important to my faith.

"Okay then. I called you over here because you will not be moving on to intelligence training," Darren says to me.

"But sir how am I-" I begin to talk and the attractive man interrupts me.

"We want you to join the BAU as soon as possible"

My eyes widen and I feel the years of hard work turned to worry lifted off my shoulders.

"Agent Sharon," Darren says and he pronounces my name right, "Meet Agent Hotchner and Agent Morgan"

I shake hands with the both of them.

Hotchner says to me, "The cases are getting too big for just five profilers, we need someone to help take on the workload and you were automatically recommended to us"

Morgan adds on, "Not many people have a PHD in Forensic Psychology and your expertise will help"

"Thank-you so much for this opportunity, I won't let you down. When do I start?" I say trying to hold in my excitement.

"Next Monday, you will be supervised by one of our agents-" Hotchner begins to say.

Derek interrupts saying, "Agent Reid"

Hotchner continues, "Yes, Agent Reid. We usually have our briefings at nine am but please come in an hour early so we can get some paper work done"

"Yes sir I will see you on Monday"

I shake their hands and they get into a black SUV and leave.

You're dismissed Sharon" Darren says to me. I run to the gun range and take out my pistol and begin shooting.

"Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!"

This will most likely be the shortest chapter in this story but that was a good place to end it. Also for Quinn I was thinking Rachel McAdams. Before, you judge me watch Spotlight that movie is amazing and so is her character. She is queen! If you have seen the movie comment below and we can geek out. You will love it if you are a Criminal Minds fan and it is one of those movies that makes you think and it is so shocking.
