Hotch, Prentiss, Reid, JJ, and I hop into the SUV and we rush to Vanderbilt University with squad cars following behind us. There is complete silence in the car, and the seconds seem like hours. Finally we arrive at George Colton's dorm room and we rush in. We meet Rossi and Morgan there.
"FBI Open the door!" Hotch yells and we don't get a reponse.
We look around the hall and students are staring at us. Morgan kicks down the door and we rush in. George is sitting there with an unconcious women in his lap.
"George Colton let go of the woman and put your hands in the air" I say to him. He immediately lets go of her and she falls to the floor. He stands up with his hands in the air and Hotch makes the arrest. I run to the woman and feel for a pulse.
"She's alive" I announce.
"We need a medic" Reid says into his talk radio. An ambulance arrives within minutes and they take her to the hospital. After that, we exit the dorm and stand around the SUVs. Prentiss, JJ, Morgan, Rossi, and Hotch are talking to the police department while Reid and I leaned against the car.
"You did amazing on the case" Reid says to me.
"Well I am sure not every case is going to be this simple" I reply.
"Umm you're right, but I am really glad you joined the BAU"
"That means a lot"
I see Hotch walking towards us and it seems like a good time to bring up my issues with not being able to do my job to the fullest extent.
"Excuse me Hotch, can I talk to you?" I ask him.
"Of course Dr. Sharon" He says.
"Sir, I know that you aren't used to having an extra team member and you are still trying to figure out where I fit. However, I won't be able to do my job to the ability that the FBI expects if you restrain me as much as you have been" I say quickly, worried about the consequences of being so honest.
"You're right Sharon, you are the only one who knows how you can do the job best. I will try to the best of my abilities not to restrain you"
"Thank-you sir"
We then leave for the airport. On the plane, I sit next to Reid and we talk even though I am incredibly tired.
"So where did you grow up?" He asks me.
"A small town outside of Dallas, Texas called McKinney. You?" I reply.
"Las Vegas"
"You know, I went to Las Vegas when I was like seven with my grandma. I told her that when I was an adult I was going to live there"
"And now you are living in the opposite of that, Dr. Sharon" He laughs.
"I think we are past the point where you have to call me doctor. Just call me Quinn"
"Alright Quinn, call me Spencer"
That was the last thing I remember before I wake up and I am leaning on Spencer's shoulder. He is just on his phone, scrolling through an article about Marquis De Lafayette.
"Sorry" I grumble as I move off his shoulder.
"Oh it's fine" he smiles at me.
I look around the plane. Hotch and Rossi are talking, while Morgan, JJ, and Prentiss are smirking at us.
I turn to Spencer and say (still not completely thinking straight because I just woke up), "Did you get to the part where Hamilton told Lafayette that he would support French if they ever had revolution. Then during the French Revolution, Hamilton felt strongly that the United States shouldn't get involved and he was basically the reason they didn't. Yeah that was shady"
"That was shady?" He laughs.
"Well it was some class act traitor shit. I know it sounds like I don't know what I am talking about but it's true"
"Okay, Quinn"
"Hey do you have any IBUPROFEN?"
"Yes, do you have a headache?" He pulls a bottle out of his carry on.
"Yeah I get one after I sleep. Usually I just drink coffee, I try to avoid medication as much as possible"
"Me too"
"Especially opioids, I would rather suffer than take those"
"Yeah opioids can mess you up" he says uncomfortably as if he had personal experience with it, "have you ever dealt with it"
"No not personally. In my psychology class in high school I did a study on how opioids affected someone compared to Marijuana. Also, my grandparents pushed me to become a pharmaceutical sales representative because it makes really good money. Once I found out about opioids and what these big pharmaceutical companies are knowingly prescribing these highly addictive drugs, I wanted nothing to do with it" I tell him.
"From 1999 to 2014 Opioids killed 165,000 people and eighty-nine percent of Heroin users started with Opioids" he adds on to my point, "You seem to be very passionate about this"
"I think everyone has a couple causes that they are fighting for. Catching serial killers is my main one but Opioids is up there"

A/N
For those who don't know opioids are substances that act on opioid receptors to produce morphine-like effects. Opioids are most often used medically to relieve pain. Some examples include morphine, methadone, buprenorphine, hydrocodone, and oxycodone. Dilaudid is also one which Spencer Reid was "addicted" to (I use the term addicted loosely because he wasn't on it for a long time and the show never explicitly calls it an addiction). Opioids are something that one of my family members was addicted to (hydrocodone) so reducing the amount they are used is a huge cause that I am fighting for.
