"Please Olivia. Please just help me this one time. I really need you this weekend." My friend, Sam, begged as she pulled on my arm.
"I'm busy." I mumble as I hold my head in my hands. I still had a headache from the party last night.
"What can you possibly be doing that you can't come to your best friend's dance recital? You know I would do it for you. " She pouted, her eyes wide.
"No, you wouldn't because I wouldn't put you through the torture of listening to annoying music and dealing with stuck up dancers."
She scoffs and crosses her arms.
"You're completely missing the point! This really means a lot to me Liv, and if you cared you would come support me!"
"Fine. Whatever. But you owe me." I tell her.
"Whatever Liv." She rolls her eyes.
"Oh! I have the perfect way you can pay me back!" I smile, my head popping up from my hands.
"I am not going to a party with you."
"Sammm" I beg, sticking out my bottom lip and giving her puppy eyes.
"Whatever Liv. But we aren't staying the night. And you're not ditching me like you did last time."
I send her an apologetic look, remembering what had happened last time I dragged her to one of my parties.
"I'm serious Olivia. I don't want to put myself at risk because you didn't want to show up to a party alone."
"Okay, Okay! I promise!" I grin, taking my phone out of the front pocket of my pants. I looked at the time and groan. 11:32am. I have work at 12.
"Oh shit, you have work" she says as she sees me check my phone. "I have to go anyway, I have to study for a test tomorrow." She stands up and gives me a hug, waving slightly as she shuts the door behind her.
I sigh and walk into the bathroom, taking off my clothes before getting in the shower.
I decide not to shave. My body was weak from not doing anything all day. I get out of the shower and grab the towel hanging from the hook behind the door.
As I dry my hair, my phone starts to ring. I quickly look at the screen, groaning as I see my ex boyfriend's name.
I hang up before answering and continue with my hair. I put it in a ponytail and throw the towel into the hamper in my closet. I grab a pair of black yoga pants out of my dresser and pull them on. I grab a black t-shirt and pull it over my head, sighing as I grab my green Starbucks apron from my bed.
"I'm too tired for this shit." I mumble, walking into the kitchen and grabbing my car keys from the small hook next to the door.
I walk lazily to my car, slamming my door before buckling my seatbelt. After my father had died in a car crash, I've always been very careful when it comes to road safety.
When I reach the small coffee shop, I walk inside, my sneaker's squeaking from the rain.
"Hey sorry I'm late, I lost track of time." I apologize to Sarah, my coworker.
"It's okay! It's been pretty slow anyways." She shrugs as she stacks cups.
I get to my position at the cash register and pick at my nails as I wait for my shift to be over. The bell rings and I lift my head up, watching the group of boys walk in laughing, coming right towards me.
I put on a fake smile and ask them for their orders.
"Okay, your names?" I ask and grab the black marker from the counter.
"Brian."
"Lyall."
"Ian"
I look up, raising an eyebrow at the tall boy on his phone with his earbuds in.
He looks up, meeting my gaze.
"Sorry. Shawn." He says, his eyes looking over at the baked treats behind the glass.
All four of the boys were very attractive, but i couldn't seem to keep my eyes off of Shawn. He was wearing a gray t-shirt that hung loosely on his body, but his muscular arms were very visible. He was wearing basketball shorts and sneakers. He looked extremely tired, but still managed to look very attractive.
He looks up from the treats and looks at me, meeting my gaze. We stare at each other for a moment before I look down at the cash register, not wanting to continue our very awkward stare down.
As they grab their drinks, I manage to get a closer look at Shawn without him noticing. His chocolate brown hair was messy, but it made him look sexy. His jawline was very well defined and I noticed a small scar on his right cheek. And don't even get me started on his lazy eye that got some reason was attractive to me.
As they leave, I mentally slap myself while Shawn turns around, catching me looking at his bum.
"I saw the way you looked at him." Sarah smirked at me, raising her eyebrow.
"I was just checking him out, no biggie." I shrug.
"He's cute. You should totally go out with him." She says.
"I don't go out with anyone." I roll my eyes. "And he's not my type."
"Mhm. Sure." She says as she walks into the back.
I shake my head at her crazy idea and clean the counter's. Surprisingly, this Starbucks was rarely visited. Only a few customers here and there.
I started working here after I had graduated high school last year, seeing I had not a clue on what to do with my life. With my mom never around and my dad dead, parties were all I had.
And they're all I will ever have.
