"Jack! get up you slept in too long. Jack! JACK!""What! dear lord!" I burst awake to my Alexis yelling in my ear.
"Hey dumbo, you got a call this morning asking for you to come in early. I have to head down to the coffee shop for work now so I thought I'd wake you up. See ya!" And with that she left. Man, I didn't want to go in early but if they want me in, I'm gonna go. I hurriedly dressed in some jeans and a long sleeved V-neck, grabbed my satchel, slipped my shoes on and went out the door. If I'm gonna be early, I needed to grab a coffee.
After living here for few weeks I managed to memorize my walk to work. Of course it would be easier to take the bus, but the walking is nice exercise. I also noticed a lot of things that would just zoom by if I was on the bus, like that small doughnut shop across the street. I should go there tomorrow. I don't think I have work tomorrow... What day will it be? Thursday? Crap I do have work. Definitely stopping by there then.
I never thought I'd be called in early for work, but I'll take the extra pay. Walking in through those doors an hour early was really weird. People gave me looks, well the people who knew me gave me looks. When I got to my floor, my boss was leaning on the side of my desk.
"Ah Jack, you're finally here. Come with me, the big guy wants to talk to you." I could feel my face pale. The big guy? That meant my boss's boss... and that meant Mr. Fischbach. Oh lord, what would he want with me? I didn't think he knew I existed. I've only been working here for what, a month? But he is the CEO so I'd guess he knows most of the people in the building.
We entered the elevator that lead straight for the top floor. Of course my heart was pounding out of my chest when they opened. The first thing I saw when they opened was a front desk, a nice vase sat on top and some magazines lead my eyes over to a person that as reading one.
"Hey Ken!" The guy at the front desk spoke quite loudly when he saw us walking over. "If your here, that means..." His eyes trailed over to me and he smiled. "Knew it. Hi, I'm Arin." He whistled before continuing, "And he did a good job this time..." He mumbled at the end but I still heard him. "Anyway, I'll buzz Mark so he knows someone's coming in. Have fun." He smiled at us as he pointed to an ajar door, and went back to reading his magazine.
Ken and I walked over to the door and I automatically knocked twice before walking in. And there he was... the same guy who seemed to be checking me out the other day. Oh gosh! He might of been judging me! Could I be fired for wearing casual clothes to work? I couldn't handle that.
Mr. Fischbach grinned when saw looked at me. I felt his eyes wander my body and I immediately felt self conscious. Looking at him closer, I could see that he was fucking attractive as hell. His smile immediately made the corners of my lips curl up into a smile of my own.
"Sean Mcloughin. Or should I call you Jack? Nevermind that, please take a seat. Ken, you can go back to work."His voice was smooth, like caramel and it made my stomach churn. Ken nodded his head and left the room, closing the door completely. "You look tense Sean. Don't be, you're not in trouble or anything I just wanted to chat with you." My shoulders stayed tense, and there was nothing I could do about it.
"W-what," I had to clear my throat. "What would you like to talk about sir?"Dear lord, I sounded God awful. However he just smiled brighter, and chuckled. His chuckle was amazing to my ears.
"When we're up here just call me Mark." I nodded my head, a slight bit confused because if this talk is about anything what I'm thinking, I'm not planning to ever be up here again. His face fell serious as he leaned forward in his chair and spoke, "I'm giving you the slot as my personal assistant."
--
Finally, his shoulders stopped being so tense. I had to restrain myself from going over there and shaking the nerves out of him. His face changed from completely nervous to confusion. I knew why, Wyatt told me he didn't take a form.
"But I never took a form? Not that I don't want to be your PA, I would absolutely love to," Bingo. "...but why me?" That accent made him so more interesting I swear.
"I saw you yesterday after I finished up my work for the day and I had never seen you before. I took it upon myself to look at what you've done, and it's very impressive for someone who has only worked at the company for a month. I need someone like that on my team. You've worked here long enough to know how the company works and your from the 15th floor. You're perfect for the job." The look of confusion as wiped off his face and was replaced with a gorgeous smile.
"Th-Thanks! I really try my hardest." He looked at the floor and kept smiling.
"You'll start tomorrow. I still need you to be here with me today though, so think of today as your training." He nodded his head, still smiling mind you, and bit his lip. "The first thing I need you to do though, is get me a coffee, I slept here last night and didn't get the chance to go home, so I couldn't grab some on the way here. Tip, floor 7 has the best coffee grounds. I'll take whatever creamer is in the fridge. If anyone asks why you're taking their creamer tell them it was Mr. Fischbach who wanted it." Sean took in all this information a sped out of the room.
I walked out of my office completely satisfied. He was cuter up close. I pulled my phone out of my pocket when I saw the elevator doors close fully. I clicked on the contact I was looking for and She immediately picked up.
"Tonight?"
"How did you know?"
"Because it's been an exact month you idiot. I've been waiting for your call since I got to work. You never stopped by to get your coffee so I figured you slept over there."
"Yeah, I gotta stop doing that. You could always let me crash at your place, it's much closer to work than mine."
"Yeah right, I just got a new roommate last month and he's gay so I'm not gonna make him suffer by having you two share the couch."
"Are you calling me handsome? Gosh, I already knew that but thanks! But seriously I'm coming over tonight. I just hired my new PA and whew I'm excited." I let a smile creep up on my face, and I was glad Alexis couldn't see it because I know she would start thinking something was up.
"Oh, that reminds me! My roommate is actually working in your building! He's really talented at art. I asked him to paint something for the walls for our room. I think you'd like him. Anyway, see you tonight!" And with that, she hung up. I'm not sure if I've ever been this excited for a PA, but it might be the fact I haven't had a male PA in a while.
My office phone started blaring. Arin let a call through and didn't tell me? I made my way back into my office and lifted the phone to my ear without checking the caller ID.
"Mark." A gruff voice called from the phone. MARKS face immediately turned sour.
"Father." Mark replied back. "What is it this time. Did you call to test my patience?"
"Ain't that a way to speak to your parent."
"The only parent I have is a mom.
At the end of the day, I got a text from Alexis asking when I'd be there. I swiftly responded saying 10 minutes. I pulled a change of clothes out of the storage closet in my office. It was very casual, but made me look stunning. It was just a thin sweater and some sweat pants. I never wore anything fancy to these dinners anyway.
I left the building saying my goodbyes to the night guards, and headed to see my beloved PA... and niece.
A/N Okay yeah I'm a lazy asshole. I've had this much of the chapter done for like 4 months and I haven't written much for it. Haha....so I felt bad and I'll try to dust my brain since I haven't been really updating anything lately and try to get my gears in motion. I know I said I'd release all the chapter when the book was done, but I'm lazy and I'm afraid if I say it again I'm never gonna write anything. So sorry for those who have been waiting for awhile; hope you enjoyed :'D
