In my arms||drabble
"I saw you with Allison earlier," Lydia said, twirling the spaghetti strands into the her fork, letting it ball up before letting go.
"Lydia," Isaac started, already aware of the direction this conversation was heading towards. "It’s nothing like that. You already know that."
“I know it’s unfair of me to ask this from you—but can you not spend time with her alone?” She requested, finally lifting her eyes from her plate to meet his.
He looked at her incredulously, “Babe, Allison is one of my best friends. Yes, I had feelings for her once, but doesn’t mean I’ll go back there.”
“I know that. It’s just that, I know how much you liked her. It’s weird for me to see you guys together—“
“What- Do you think I’ll cheat on you with her?” His eyes narrowed down at her, hurt at her subtle implication.
“I never said that!”
“You didn’t have to.”
“Why are you putting words into my mouth?” Lydia snapped angrily, dropping her fork into her plate.
“Listen Lydia, if you trusted me you would let me hang out with Allison who is just a friend to me. Almost nine months of being the only girl I really cherished in my life, I can’t believe you would ask me to do something so immature.”
“Immature? Isaac, you told me you LOVED her once. Is it really immature for me to feel uncomfortable about this? I would never think you’d cheat on me and for you to put words in my mouth is what’s really immature.” Tears began to sting her eyes as she stood up from her seat. Grabbing her coat from the couch, she heard Isaac’s footsteps following behind her.
“I’m only saying that because you should know that I would never betray your trust like that—” He said before getting cut off by the feisty red head.
She turned on her heel to look at him with glassy eyes, “Do you know why I say that? It’s not that I don’t trust you—I don’t trust her near you, okay? Yes, she’s my best friend. But my best friend also slept with my ex-boyfriend who said he loved me—just days after our break up. You don’t even love me so…” She shook her head helplessly, unable to stop the building tears. Ignoring them, she headed towards the front door.
Isaac’s fierce expression had faltered into a softer one as he listened to Lydia’s explanation. He had no idea how vulnerable she really was. At this moment, he just wanted to take her into his arms and kiss all her worries and insecurities away. “Where are you going?” He blurted, walking after her.
“Home,” She stated before pulling the door open, only to reveal a startled group of werewolves standing outside with awkward expressions.
“It’s raining pretty hard so we came back,” Cora explained as Boyd and Derek obviously couldn’t speak up on their own. “I think you should stay, Lydia. You can barely see through the rain.”
“There’s no reason for me to.” Her voice was strained, but loud enough for it to hit Isaac. Before any of them could stop her, she ran out into the rain and into her car.
“Lydia!” Isaac called after her, taking a few strides to stand out on the porch.
All he could see was her backing out of the driveway and turning onto the road.
“It’s extremely dangerous weather out and your girlfriend is extremely stubborn,” Derek pointed out.
“We got into a fight,” Isaac explained.
