An innumerable number of years ago, titans walked the earth.
They were the harbingers of life. Where they walked, countless plants and animals sprung up. It was the golden age of life.
Then came the gods. They were: Xanthos, lord of darkness, dreams, thoughts, and all that which is immaterial, Merelios, goddess of the earth, Saphira, goddess of fire, Flithlia, god of the air, Rheja, god of water, and Dryad, god of the woods, and Aurora, the goddess of light.
They killed off the titans, much to the chagrin of Xanthos, who had believed that sharing their power with the titans would have been best.
They took their place as the rulers of the earth, with Aurora at the helm.
After the passage of a century, the gods noticed massive unrest within Xanthos' realm, the underworld, land of the spirits of the dead. Xanthos' single-handedly took care of it, even earning the respects of his people.
Then the gods grew fearful of Xanthos, whose powers could rival all of their own put together. They wanted to banish him.
Xanthos overheard them, and was imprisoned in his own home by the other gods.
Then he was banished by the gods to the Tiliatrien Continent, which was inhospitable and unroamed by any god or titan beforehand.
Xamthos left and peace returned to the minds of the gods. Then came the beings.
Perhaps Xanthos had created them, but in the end, no one but him would know.
Like Merelios were the humans and dwarves, or Tera, beings of the earth. Like Saphira were the Pheonix, beings of pure flame. Like Flithlia were the Dragons, beings made for the wind. Like Rheja were the Fey, beings as swift and fluid as water. Like Dryad were the Elves and Spirits, guardians of the land. And like Aurora were the Angels, powerful beings composed of holy magic.
Then one day, a million years since the first beings appeared, a Calamity struck the earth in the form of a berserk Aurora. Perhaps she had been this way ever since Xanthos had left, for his power was the only one capable of balancing Aurora's.
As Aurora went berserk, the remaining gods restrained her with all their powers, but to no avail, for Aurora was drunk on her own power.
The gods knew that only Xanthos could stop her now.
So they sought for him in the Tiliatrien Continet. They found no vestiges of what the Continent used to look like, as Xanthos himself had given his power to revive the fallen titans to give life to the continent. There in Tiliatrein were the same races and people as in the Nerethine Continent they themselves ruled.
But there was no trace of Xanthos to be found.
All that was left of Xanthos' original power was a dark liquid gem and a peculiar being that had absorbed it.
But the gods did not know of that.
Thus they returned to the Nerethine Continent, only to find goddess Aurora in a comatose state, her Holy Angel army having absorbed her holy magic in a desperate attempt to save her.
The land fell again into a long period of peace and properity. People from both Nerethine and Tiliatrein began to mingle and live together. The gods ruled Nerethine without Aurora at their helm. The titans still roamed Tiliatrein as Xanthos' last legacy.
This is where our story begins.
