Mark had mentioned a while ago about Jack possibly moving in with him into their own, new apartment. Since a lot of the conventions take place in America and Jack had become very good friends with the other people there. He could always go back to Ireland to visit family and old friends there. It's not like he could never go back to his homeland again or anything. But, it was only a passing thought at the time and little did Mark know that his joking suggestion would actually come to pass.
So, since then they had been working towards it. Jack had been packing up his things ready to move in. Mark had since moved into the new apartment a few days before, and unpacked his things, getting it ready for when Jack arrived.
He had just come off the phone to jack, who was nearing the end of his flight. Mark had offered to come and pick Jack up from the airport, but Jack said he would just hire a taxi as there was no need for Mark to go through all that trouble.
''Well, ok, if you're sure buddy'' Mark finally gave in.
''Cool, I'll see ya' soon Mark!'' Jack's voice called out of the phone. Jack hung up, and Mark was left in an odd silence. Something seemed to hit him like a car, a sudden realisation.
'Jack...is coming to stay with me...we're going to be...roommates'
Mark stared off into space for a while as his brain seemed slow to process this new information. Though they had been planning it for months now, it had only seemed to sink in NOW that it was actually happening.
'It's not like I haven't had roommates before! Why am I freaking out so much?' Mark combed his hand through his red hair with a sigh.
He flopped down on the sofa with a deep breath and decided to switch on the TV to find something to watch. He aimlessly flicked through channel after channel for about 10 minutes as his mind was drifting off into other thoughts. Suddenly, Jack's voice popped up in his head, as he put the phone down.
'Cool, I'll see ya' soon Mark!'
Mark got slight chills as he went over how Jack says his name with his accent, though he wasn't sure why. He kept going over those words, though he couldn't quite understand why. Jack sounded excited, but it was like Mark was trying to assure himself that it was indeed excitement.
'Pull yourself together, Mark! Why are you acting like some nervous school kid? He wouldn't be coming if he didn't want to!'
Yet, he found himself scanning the living room to make sure everything was presentable. He even went and plumped the cushions of the sofa.
*PING*
Mark's phone went off from a new text message from Jack, he picked up his phone and read it.'Hey, Markimoo, um, what was the apartment number again? XD'
Mark rolled his eyes as he chuckled at Jack's amazing memory. However, he did not notice the blush that he had formed from reading Jack's nickname for him. And, unconsciously, he called him by his.
'88, Jackaboy. Got that? It's two 8's, got it? It comes after 87' he replied sarcastically with a smirk.
A few seconds later his phone pinged again. Already smirking, he picked up his phone again.
'Haha, very funny Mark. I'll see you in a bit, ya douchebag'
Mark smiled down at his phone before walking with it into the other room to plug it in the phone charger as it was on low battery. He sat on the edge of his bed scrolling through twitter for a few minutes.
Soon, an odd noise got his attention.
A jangling sound, followed by a very muffled, inaudible voice. Mark slowly and cautiously got up and the scratching noise continued. As he walked through the house, it got louder, and the sound of a lock hitting against a door was one of the sounds. As he got closer to the front door, he was beginning to get an idea of what was going on. The front door banged loudly, with more muffled... cursing? It seemed they were struggling to do something. So Mark reached the door handle and opened the door.''Oh, ya son of a-ugh!- why won't you just ope-Woah!''
The front door was flung open, Mark suddenly jumped back as someone fell through the doorway and crashed on the floor, all of the bags they were carrying fell on top of them in a huge pile.
''ahh...that hurt like a bitch'' Came a heavy, but muffled Irish accent. Mark slowly knelt down and picked a bag up. Sure enough, green hair was underneath.
''Well Hello Jack'' he snickered. ''Have a nice trip?''
Jacks' face looked up with a scowl at Mark.
''Really? 'A nice trip'? I had no idea you could sink THAT low, Mark'' Jack frowned from under the mountain. Mark placed his hand on his chest in innocence
''I was merely asking about your plane trip! To accuse me of such a terrible pun is unforgivable!'' he said is his higher voice and a pout.
''Yeah, sure, would'ya help me out here buddy?'' one of his hand found a way to stick out of the bags so he could point to the pile on top of him. ''Can't say I like having these things on top of me'' he added, wriggling around.
''I could be on top of you instead if you like?'' Mark joked in his usual fashion, though he noticed his voice was oddly high.
''Yeah, sure, that'll happen'' Jack joked back. But he still looked down a bit to try and conceal the blush he felt had just formed on his cheeks.
Mark helped Jack take the bags off him, and he got up and tried to gain some composure.
''Did you have trouble opening the door, Jackaboy?'' Mark teased.
''NO! The stupid key wouldn't fit!'' Jack yelled. Mark looked to the lock on the outside of the door, with a sigh, he took them out.
''Jack, you don't HAVE the keys yet. These are your OLD keys'' Mark explained. He threw the old keys to Jack, which he caught with a blush as Mark shut the door.
''Are you ok? You're more...scatter-brained then normal'' Mark lifted an eyebrow at him.
''Very funny. I have Jet lag, that's all'' He came up with an excuse.'' Anyway, that one is your room, I'll help you put your bags in'' Mark said, not abounding convinced. He grabbed some of Jack's bags and flung them onto his shoulders. Jack couldn't help but blush as he watched him do so. Jack stopped for a moment to think to himself.
'The truth is that I've been so nervous for some reason, that I've been messing up a lot more. But I don't know why. Well, it's a new chapter now. I've now officially moved in with Markimoo'
