Summer was five weeks from the end. I was lying on the beach in my bathers after finishing my patrol with my friends.

I felt a shadow fall over me. My body cooling instantly

I sat up looked at the person stood over me. A shock filled my body replacing the cold.

All I could do was stared at him in his blue boardies and Ray Bands. We hadn’t spoken all holidays but he chooses to speak to me now.

“Umm… are you going to say anything or just stare at me?”

A gave a small sigh. The nerve he had to say that after interrupting my sun.

I stood up, wiped of some of the sand and gave him a smile

“Hello…. Not to be rude but what do you want?”

He was slightly taken back by my direct and upfront question but answered it

“I need your help and I can’t ask anyone else”

I got worried

“You’re not in trouble with the police are you?”

He laughed

“No I just……”

He trailed off his sentence

“I’ll help you”

I was surprised at what I said and so was he.

“Thank you!”

He hugged me lifting me into the air.

My lungs couldn’t give enough oxygen and I was starting to see black dots over my eyes.

“Can…. U… put me ….down!”

He put me down on the floor and I released a huge sigh.

“Sorry…”

He looked down at the floor and kicked a bit of sand

I lifted his head up

“It’s ok I’m fine. You just don’t know your own strength”

I gave him a smile just to make sure he was ok

I bent over and picked up my towel, beach bag and shoes.

I put my hand out for him to grab it, he hesitated but took it and I walked/ pulled him with me towards the small shops by the beach.

“Come on we’ll have a milkshake and talk”

I gave him another sweet smile as we crossed the road in the direction of the favourite milk bar for my year at school. I could only wonder and worry about what was going to come from our convocation.
