I chocked on my milkshake.
“WHAT!!”
“You heard me be my girlfriend”
I was taken back. This was not where I saw this convocation going.
“It’s the only answer I have. This way you can make sure I’m ok and don’t do anything stupid or get myself killed and I won’t have to be peer pressured to only hang around the one group of friends. It a win, win situation!”
In what world was this ‘a win, win situation’? It’s more like a win, lose situation if you ask me!
“Alec…” I took a very big deep breath.
“Mackenzie”
“Are you sure that this would work, I mean would everyone believe us?”
“I think they will if we agree on the details and stuff.”
My head was spinning around so fast. I was scared it would fly off
Alec looked at me with his big blue eyes and held my hands that we’re clinging on to my nearly empty milkshake like it was a life ring.
“Trust me. I would never do something that would get you hurt”
I gave another deep sigh. This seemed to be a recurring pattern.
“Fine, I’m in”
Alec’s face lit up as soon as the words left my mouth.
“Oh my god, Thank you so much Kenzie you are the best!”
“Don’t get too excited there. I have one rule”
“What? Anything”
“If this isn’t working by March then we call it quits, Ok?”
“Definitely, now let’s get a plan together”
“Well…”
I looked into his eye’s again all the stress and worry had disappeared. I just hoped this didn’t pass the stress and worry onto me.
“Why don’t we change our Facebook statuses and then work out what we are going to say when people ask how we got together”
Alec nodded and reached into his pocket. From this pocket he pulled out a ten dollar note and put it on the table.
“Why don’t we go for a walk and talk about it, we can’t sit in here all day”
He stood up and put out his hand for me to take. I hesitated but took his hand. He pulled me closer and put his arm around my waist.
I gave him the ‘What do you think you’re doing’ look.
“What? If we are a couple then we should acted like it”
“Ok”
I put my arm around his waist and he gave me the exact same look I had given him earlier.
“What? Like you said we need to act like a couple”
We walk down the street, towards a park around the back of the shops we had been sat at raped together.
This was going to work or crash and burn, badly and right now my mind was favouring the crash and burn option.
This was not going to end well.
