Chapter 1

"Carter ,Carter !?"

I look up quickly as reality seems to come back to me. Signing up for the battle of the schools competition,what am i thinking ?

"Carter!"

"Im sorry ,im here ."

I say as i look up to see Hailey ,only in a grade higher than I am, taking register.We all begin to stand as our director ,as well as school drama teacher, walks in .

"Okay cast ,we will have a quick warm up and then i want to teach you some moves just to see what i have to deal with this year .Please find a space and get comfortable."says Ms Bowen

We all begin to swiftly fill the empty spaces around the hall and the music begins to play.Ms Bowen starts the warm up straight away and everyone follows intently trying to not mess up .The warm up is soon over and we begin to learn the dance moves .The music once again blares through the speakers and everyone is moving in unison to the same beat with the sane moves ,except me .I get confused and end up going the opposite way and out of time .Great ,my first day of rehearsals and i have already made a fool of myself .

"Come ,I'll practice with you.Five ,six.Five ,six,seven,eight."says Leah.She is about a head shorter than i am ,with caramel coloured skin and dark brown, curly hair.

We begin to go over the moves slowly and i eventually get them right. I do a little victory dance of my own which earns an embarrassed laugh from Leah as she watches me.

"Great rehearsal everyone! I'll see you all tomorrow at 14:00 sharp!Don't be late or you'll be kicked out."

I gather up my bags and walk out the hall ,already excited for tomorrows rehearsals.
