The World Waits For No One (a Multipart Series)

Even With a Good Life, Death Waits For No One.

"Eri, I... I wanted to ask you... W-will you go to the dance w-with m-me?" Hikira asked nervously holding out a beautiful white rose.

"Of course I will go with you Hikira" I said as I hugged him and he hugged back. We let go and he smiled and I took the rose.

I woke up the next morning, ate breakfast, and went to school. More hell to go through, see, me and my teachers don't exactly get along.... And I mean all of them.

"Today we are talking about...." I listen to my teacher for that class period. I get up and am about ready to leave when I'm tripped and I fall and hit my head on the corner of the sharp science table and pass out, the last thing I hear is Hikira yelling "Eri!" and pass out.

I open my eyes to awake in a forest and see I'm not in school or anywhere near civilization. I look around, I'm in a beautiful field of flowers, it's bright and colorful, almost every flower in the world is here, even trees. From Aspens to Pine trees.

"Eri?.. Oh god please be okay!" I wake up to Hikira talking to me, I try to move but find myself in a hospital bed.

"What? Where am I?" I ask Hikari looks at me and says

"You're in the hospital, when you fell you hit the corner of the table and got a concussion, you've been out for about a day and a half already!" I let it sink in.

"Wow.... I just hope the teachers aren't going to be assholes about this...." I say calmly.

"I doubt it, but you never know,"

"Yeah."

A few weeks later I got my life back in order, only to have it thrown back into disaster. I ran down the street as the sun slowly went behind the mountains. Being chased I turn corners and cross the streets until I reach my home. My parents are supposed to be back from their business trip tonight.

I fumbled with my keys and opened the door, rushing inside I quickly lock the doors and windows. I didn't dare look out the windows, whatever or whoever was chasing me, was circling my house, looking for a way in, to get to me.

A few hours pass before my parents call and tell me they won't be here for another day or so, their flight had been cancelled due to weather and a few technical difficulties and whatnot. So i was basically screwed.

I tried to take my mind off of the noises outside. I hear a knock on the door.

"Eri?" I hear Hikira say from outside. I walk to the door and look through the small hole to see Hikira. I let him in and tell him about being chased home. "Oh my god, that's horrible!"

We talked for a long time, I finally went into the kitchen to prepare some food for us. I see Hikari grab something 0ut of the corner of my eyes but dismiss it and continue to prepare food. That's when I felt something cold against my back.

In the most inhuman yet understandable voice something said "you move. You die. I win." I heard a chuckle, I wanted to turn around but the words echoed through my mind and shakily ask.

"W-what are y-you?" My voice shaken as the thought that I might die rushes through.

"Your worst Nightmare. Now. Why don't we play a little game.?" I nod slowly, I figured if I played along I'd have a better chance of living. I follow the thing's instructions. "We are going to play hide and seek. If you can find me, I'll let you live. But fail. And you die. From the moment you hit fifty, you have approximately one hour. Or you die. Also there's a catch, you aren't allowed to look directly at me. Or you die as well. You may only look at my eyes or something behind me. Now close your eyes and count." I nod and put my hands over my eyes and count, I reach fifty and begin looking.

No luck, only thirty minutes left, I've checked everywhere. I check everywhere again and look in the bathroom again, I check the cabinet under the sink, I then look at the mirror. At this point there are around 5 minutes left.

I jump back at the sight and quickly close my eyes, "that's cheating you know!" I yell at the thing, person, whatever.

"Very good, you found me kuku" I feel the knife on my neck and shake a bit, they draw blood and the knife is pulled away. "Your blood is sweet, maybe I will keep you for myself, forget that Hikira boy kuku, you may look at me if you wish." I open my eyes and turn around.

I stare at the boy? Or girl? In front of me they have black hair with red and purple hilights, flat chest with features of both male and female, they were really pretty. But, why wouldn't they want anyone to see them?

"Like what you see?" they raise their eyebrow. I shake my head and look to my right.

"Are you still going to kill me..?"

"Maybe." I'm then pinned against the door, the handle digging into my side. I yelp and feel a stinging sensation on my neck.

"A vampire?" I mumble, they laugh.

"No no no, I'm not a vampire, I'm a shape shifting demon. And I've decided. Sweet, eternal, dreams, sweetheart." The demon continues taking my blood, what did I do to deserve this? Why? I have so many questions. But before I can think of anything else I pass out and wake up in the field again.

Am I in hell? Or heaven? I can't tell, perhaps this is Purgatory? Odd but it's pretty, I wander around, It's just like spring. I love it.

Kay so, you can guess what season is next, and what did you think? Also, this was 994 words, it took up about four pages, so it's my longest one so far, hopefully part 4 will be longer? but it'll be out later, so the soonest i'd be able to get it out is maybe Sunday, or possibly Monday? it depends on how much homework I get. Anyway I hope you are enjoying the series so far!
