FIVE

The Family

Diana groaned at the sound of her alarm song, from her sleep tracker. The song's hum and guitar tune gently prompted her to wake up.

Rolling on her back, she stared up at the ceiling. She didn't really need to go to work during the weekend. It wouldn't hurt to go back to sleep. Her boss, Lucas wouldn't mind if she didn't go to the office. After all, he did say that it was not really required unless she couldn't finish the report. But did she finish the report?

'7:00 AM' is what her phone clock said.

"Oh gosh..." she heaved a sigh, as she reluctantly got up, and headed to the bathroom to start her daily routines. She felt a little weak, and felt a few dizzy spells for the past few weeks, but brushed it off quickly, thinking it was just because she hasn't completely paid her 'sleep debt'.

The past few weeks had been a complete chaos, as Jesse had made it hard for her to sell the penthouse. At first, she thought, everything would go smoothly, but then he brings his new girlfriend in tow, every time they had paperwork to discuss with the lawyer, making it hard for her emotionally. Next was, property sale price of the penthouse, and dividing it between the both of them. Jesse cunningly, almost made her sign a contract stating that he will get more than her. It was a good thing she had quickly noticed, because if not, she'll definitely be on the losing end right now. And last, he refused to acknowledge the previous contract, stating that she has the right to get half of the selling price of the penthouse.

Things could've been easier, but Jesse had to make things complicated, sometimes, she would think that he was causing all this mess, just to give him a reason to see her. She quickly shook the thought off, her head, as she didn't want to start her morning with problems.

After doing her doing her daily routines, she headed for her closet and randomly pulled out a loose multi-colored pattern, shift dress. Frankly, she didn't have the mood to go over her wardrobe and think of what to wear, she couldn't just be bothered. However, no matter what she wore, her wardrobe always made her look chic.

She looked at her vanity table, and hesitated for a while, before finally deciding to do her make-up, as she was not exactly in the mood, to doll herself up as she normally would. However, words from Allegra rang inside her head, that she has to look good for herself, and so as the memory of almost getting caught by her ex in the most unflattering way she could imagine.
