I was sitting at the dinner table wondering why it was so important that everyone attended this family dinner, or well why it would be a great importance to me. It wasn’t every day that my whole family, came together it wasn’t Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter, it felt as if something was up. And last time everyone was here my father Thomas Price announced he was running for Governor, and as you can expect I wasn’t too keen on becoming the Governors daughter. I had just turned 21 years old, and you would think that I had everything planned out for me, but I didn’t. I was lost on life, yet now at 23 I still was.

My father made it very clear that morning that this dinner would be of great importance to me. Then again every dinner was of great importance for me, because ever since my father won for Governor he has made it his soul mission to guide me into a career path worthy of a Governor’s daughter. It wasn’t that I was lazy, dumb, or a spoiled rich girl depending on my trust fund to kick in so that the rest of my life would be taken care of, it was just I didn’t know what I, Kathy Price wanted. I spent my whole life listening to my parents following the rules, that when I gradated college with honors, I broke down because I didn’t want this life that was planned out for me.

So, as I sat here looking at everyone around the dining table I noticed their odd smiles. It was completely awkward for me. One because I was pretty sure everyone knew what was up but me, and two we had three extra sits at the table. That sent red flags up, we had mystery guests. And having guests meant I had to be on my best behavior.

Again, why was everyone acting so different towards me? Even bitchy Aunt Rosa acted different. Saying, “Why Kathy you look divine this evening. Have you done something with your hair?” puzzled I repeated, “I looked DIVINE this evening?” honestly, it would have been fine, but I was wearing the same clothes I wore yesterday, when I attended brunch with her and my mother. Normally she should have responded with-

“Katherine it is common knowledge that one should not answer the door wearing the exact same clothes you wore yesterday. I do say you should be well aware that people are watching you, and you should reflect some type of class when answering the door.”

She would express this with such authority. Making it known that status was everything and your appearance was important. She is completely old fashion and had a stick so high up her ass that frankly, you couldn’t do anything right unless she dress and spoke for you. She was dead in her ways. So as you can already guess something was up.

My appearance and how I presented myself was always proper and well taken care of. I learned this because my father stuck me in every dance class known to man. Thomas Price wanted his daughter to be able to carry herself well. We had a high status to carry even before he started office. He couldn’t allow his only child to have poor posture. I had his olive skin, long dark brown hair, and deep blue eyes. But I was the spitting image of my mother. I knew that I was pretty, but I wasn’t vain about it. Like most girls I knew.

I heard my father tapping his glass, he stood up smiling a kool aid type of smile that placed me back to my younger days and announced, “As you all know I called this dinner, because I received great news. A request has been made. And by this our family has once again gained a new high. With great honor I welcome the Grayson family.”

Turning to look at the dining room doors I saw Ethan Grayson walk through the doors. He was about 24 or 25, he was six foot, had a lean toned body, and his tan skin matched his perfectly toned arms. Arms that could honestly make any girl feel protected though they were strong enough to throw a descent punch. He had jet black hair, a chiseled face which matched his strong jaw bone amazingly. He seriously was heaven sent. At least in my eyes he was. And here he was at my family dinner AND I was wearing WHAT I WORE YESTERDAY! OH MY GOD!
