A laugh like the sound of Christmas bells drifted through the air and on the corner of a street stood a shorter male that most would describe as scrawny. Next to him stood a female with a sparkle of laughter in her warm brown eyes, though she was seemingly healthy and stood quite a bit taller. No two would ever have seen them as brother and sister if the siblings never pointed it out.
"Relax Stevie, you don't have to worry about me. I'm just going as a nurse, besides it's supposed to be the other way around. I'm the older sibling, i'm supposed to be worrying about you," the girl with the warm eyes said.
Steve rolls his eyes in a playful manner, "That doesn't mean you won't get hurt. I guess I shouldn't worry though because i'll be joining you soon."
June, the girl with the warm eyes, smiles. She knew her brother wanted to fight in the war, and though he had some... complications she believed he could do it eventually.
"I know you will, and i'm sure i'll still be around when you do. Goodbye Stevie," June says and gives the smaller sibling a kiss on the forehead before taking off towards the train station.

*time skip to war zone*

The war zone was a cold, unforgiving place to be. Injured soldiers were everywhere, some too far gone to make it. Though June assured them they would, and perhaps they did under her watch. June seemed to be a lucky girl and just because they were at a time of war did not mean there was an exception. Her dirty-blonde hair had gotten coated with dirt, making it appear darker, since she joined in to help the war effort. Her warm brown eyes had grown cold, and her once smooth and fair skin was littered with scrapes.
One night, as she paced the tent filled with injured or dying soldiers she heard a strange noise. Like a sort of clicking noise, though sharper. Something cold touches her temple and a hand covers her nose and mouth.
"Breathe in or the gun gets fired," a heavily accented voice says.
Though the command was of no use, because she had already gasped in shock and the chemicals entered her system. Courageous and beautiful wasn't enough to keep her awake and so she fell into the arms of her captor. Changing her life forever.
