The Summer Soldier

Chapter 2- Summer

  Omniscient P.O.V.

Nobody knew her or what she did. After she was presumed dead most forgot about her, all but her brother. Yes, little Steve Rodgers whom wasn't so little anymore. In fact he hadn't been ever since the last time June saw him.

Though I make this seem sad, let me tell you that what you've heard so far on this page ... is false. Nobody forgot about her, in fact they remembered her more than ever. Just under a different name, and a different appearance.

Project Seasonal Soldiers, a project with a dumb name, but conducted by a smart group with bad intentions. PSS was made by an organization called HYDRA, started by the Germans... finished by the Soviets. It consisted of two humans who had been near death yet deemed strong or even... special enough to go through the experiments.

Who were these humans? James Barnes and June Rogers, the two found almost dead during different points and in different areas of WW2. Both eventually became assassins, and both eventually became known under new names. The Winter and Summer Soldier, the meaning behind the whole name of Project Seasonal Soldier.

I did say they became known but perhaps they weren't. After all they were very hidden and any known data of them was blocked by HYDRA. Though those who knew them in the past, and those who they harmed definitely knew them. And those people would remember them for the rest of their lives, if they even lived through an encounter with one or both of the soldiers.

*decades after the first chapter, haha I forgot the year* June's P.O.V.

My eyes flutter open, and everything feels cold or numbed. My vision is slightly blurred, but when I look at my hands it's not hard for me to see the dark gloves that look permanently stuck to them. Where was I? Everything around me looked white-washed, and I was strapped down to a metal table. My mind felt so empty, and my throat felt dry. I scan the room to see people in white coats rushing all around me, and one approaching me.
The male approaches, a smirk I never wish to see again on his face. He picks an iron looking disk off a plate, and I panic once I notice how brightly red the disk is coloured. As if it were a brand, and it was. The hot metal is pressed onto the inside of my wrist causing me to scream and writhe. The disk is dropped into a bucket, presumeby full of water, and the man picks up a scalpel instead. But what I didn't notice a was a needle, the injection tube filled with a blue looking liquid, in his other hand. The man runs the scalpel along my arm and almost to the fresh brand on my wrist, but it seems to be a painful distraction when I suddenly feel the needle plunged into the skin on my neck.
This only causes more screaming to emit from me and eventually I black out from all the pain. The one thing I didn't know was that when I wake up... i'd be a different person.

*a day later*
My eyes open once more, though this time, instead of confusion they hold emptiness. I can't seem to think straight, and my actions feel weak. Multiple armed men enter the room i'm in, pulling me up from the metal I was on, and dragging me through the halls. I'm propped up against a concrete wall, a man with a metal arm standing in the center of the room. He looks angry, yet just as empty as I feel. A sort of horn sounds through the room, and for some reason this sounds acts like a command to me. I stand up straight, feeling a bit more confident, and prepare for what I assume is a fight.
We meet in the center of the room, sizing each other up, searching for weaknesses before I smirk. I know exactly what to aim for, so I do what I think would work. I guess I didn't know punching someone's metal arm with your bare hand wouldn't be a good idea. The man glares at me as I hold my hand in a bit of pain, and I know the rest of this fight will be hell.
