                                                         Chapter Two: The Magic

The Lead Woman stopped and turned right before the doubles doors. On the other side were the humans, I could sense them. They were nervous and some were scared. I counted six, though. One seemed to be a female who was sitting separate from the others. I was looking straight through the door to see and feel their energy. I felt a sting on the side of my neck and snapped back into reality.

"You think the humans won't notice you using your Magic!" The Lead Woman was right before me, "I swear, the eyes of Magic are wasted on Unukas like you. Try and keep that under control. If it happens again the punishment will be much harsher. Understand?"

I shook my head and kept my eyes down to the ground.

I could see through solid things, like doors, and sense the aura around people. It was a weak type of Magic, but I was still considered a Magic to our village. I was prohibited from using it, though. My eyes would go from my deep, dark brown to a bright and shocking green once my Magic was in use, which was how people around me could identify me as a Magic.

The Lead Woman had a look of disgust cross and linger on her face once she saw me, but when she first witnessed the Magic was when that look of disgust turned to a bitter look of loathing and hate.

She turned her back towards all of us and proceeded towards the double doors. Her hand glided quickly on both the door handles before opening them. As the doors opened something inside of me triggered. My knees felt as though they could give out at any moment and I felt warmth travel from the center of my forehead down to my eyes and wrap around my ears. My arms tingled along with my stomach.

"What's going on with Adeline?!" I heard Skylet shout. I hadn't even realized that my eyes were closed until I looked over at her. Skylet's, along with the other girl's, eyes were wide and full of fear. The Lead Woman looked back, but from the look on her face she wasn't mad, she was terrified. What did I look like? Was all that could go through my mind.

The Lead Woman closed the doors quickly before they could fully be opened and ran over towards me, placing her hand on my forehead.

"You're going through a change. But how could this be? You haven't found another Magic to be triggered with," she held up a small gold plate she retrieved from her pocket. I had always heard of the silver and gold plates being bought by The Yuu, but had never seen one.

My face, it was covered with black and red markings dancing from where my hair begun heading down along the sides of my face, joining into one two graceful curved marks, one on each side of my neck. I looked down and pulled up my sleeves to see my arms and hands were also covered in these intertwined markings. Lifting up my shirt I noticed the red and black markings and lines followed the direction to be concentrated to my left side of my torso. The markings intertwined down to my left foot. Taking this sudden change in I realized that it resembled a tree drawn on my body. The roots starting at my feet and lower leg, manifesting itself up towards my torso as the truck, and the delicate designs from my chest towards both sides of my face up were the branches. A single leaf design, in all black, was in the center of my forehead were the feeling had started.

My eyes were the scariest part. They were green, like before when I used my Magic, but this time they were brighter and lined with black, making the green come more forward. I looked like myself, but like a Frontmen Magic. Frontmen Magics are usually warriors, advisers or healers, and their beauty comes from them meeting a trigger, which is another Magic that you're meant to be with. Only women Magics, though, have the marked designs labelled visibly on their skin. This is because it represents that that woman is no longer a "single Magic." Men, however, do have markings on their chest. Each Magic has an element (Fire, Earth, Water, or Air) and the design resembles your trigger's element. My trigger must have the Earth element, but I didn't see anyone new that I haven't met a million times before.

Then it hit me; my trigger was on the other side of those doors. Once that realization washed over me my body was aching to open those doors and run toward my trigger.

"Addie, you look so beautiful," Skylet was in awe. I gave her a look of disbelief. No one had ever said those words to me, I mean I was the ugliest one about five minutes ago, and now I was marked with not only beauty, but with wisdom and strength. "Imagine what the guest humans will think! They will all want you!"

"Yes, this could actually be quite a good thing. I would have to try and explain this sudden and mysterious change to the Head Host, but this could really impress the humans. A beautiful Magic who can't talk or understand them . This is quite impressive, indeed. Okay, girls," The Lead Woman turned her attention to all the girls, "are we ready?" She seemed to be in such a better mood. The girls' silence was her answer: yes, we have no choice.

She turned with a smile and opened the doors with pride and her shoulders held high.

"Welcome, guests, to Vetten! I present to you, my girls."

    I saw him.
