Ashlyn had agreed to move in with Darling. So had Apple, so the head master decided they could be a threesome. Ashlyn's sister, April, was my first option, so I chose her. April did like shoes, but wasn't obsessed. She did like clothes, but wasn't a girly girl. She seemed very nice. Instead of blues, greens and pinks, she chose to wear yellows, black, greys, and gold. I respected her for not being anything like the brat that was Ashlyn. The funny thing was, April had light brown hair, another thing nothing like Ashlyn. I had a feeling I would like her very well.
When I walked in, April greeted me with a warm smile and a hello. I already liked her. She helped me unpack, and she set everything up the way I asked. She was definitely going to be my best friend. I discovered we were actually very much alike, and she was a bookworm too. Other than the hair, clothes, and attitude, she looked a lot like Ashlyn, but I don't rally care. She was nice and respected me, like a roommate should. Unlike Darling, she wasn't slightly snobby. She was nice and sweet. I asked to French braid her hair, since I needed to practice, and I found myself holding her soft, silky brown hair. There were streaks of blonde, and they weren't dyed. Natural streaks, what i had always wanted. I was immediately jealous. I found the conversation going smoothly like I had known her for years. She seemed to know how to respond and when.
When I finished with her hair we remained on the floor laughing and talking. I told her about my fight with Darling. She told me that if she was a good friend things would work out in the end. I hope she's right.
April glowed yellow with happiness. Sometimes, though, black for insecurity. This only came in flickers, but I could tell she was insecure none the less. I noticed when she flickered black she gave me this...smile. It was weird. It didn't look fake but... It didn't look.... I don't know. I can't describe it. I mentioned her sister, and she turned black. Then, blue with sadness. "We're not...close, exactly." She said, flickering blue and black. I didn't say anything. I didn't want to make it worse. She rubbed her right arm a little. She gave the the weird smile. She rubbed her arm a little.
Eventually, it got dark. After I put on my pajamas I walked into the room. I heard a voice singing.
"Yeah you can be,
My faded memory.
I wish I knew why,
Why our friendship had to die.
I wish that you,
Could come though.
Because you and me,
How it should be.
Yeah you and me,
Forever it should be." This was one of my favorite songs. (Authors note. The song doesn't exist. I made it up sorry if it's bad) I joined in.
"Because you...oh..oh are my picture perfect memory. Together we could be. I miss what we had. Left me feelin' so sad." She whipped around. She had on a yellow long sleeved shirt with black and grey stripped leggings. She stared at me with wide eyes. She turned black for insecurity, and then purple for fear. Then blue for sadness. "Um... Hey?" She said, trying to ignore her obvious emotions. It didn't take my magic sight to see what she was feeling. It was all over her face.
"Hi." I said. She looked at me with weary eyes. A knock on the door shattered the silent moment. I twisted the handle. Ashlyn was in the door way. Behind her was Apple and.....Darling.
