The Next day

I let out a frustrated sigh. "what's wrong?" Erica asks as Kevin, Javy, Rick and her walk over to me. "nothing" I say getting up. "whatcha got?" I ask sitting up. "nothing" Kevin says as Javy hands me a folder and I take a look at it. Hmmm "this Laura chick don't sound right. Bring her in" I say and they do as told.

"We got one" Erica says. I rub my eyes and stifle a yawn. "lets go" I say. "Detective Ryan, Quinn and Esposito my office now" Gates called. "whew I don't have to go" Jax sighs. "You too Hunt!" she calls out. I laugh "spoke to soon" Rick laughs. Rick and I head to the crime scene. "What happened?" I ask looking around. This place is completely trashed. "We don't know but we are sweeping for prints. this girl came into this apartment and gave the owner a little Sumin Sumin" One of the CSU guys tells me. "thanks" I say walking to the body. Lanie turns around with a baby in her hands. "aww it's a baby!" Rick says jogging to grab the baby. I get to work because Im not the baby holding type. We finish up at the crime scene and Rick says that the little guy needs stuff. I shrug and tell him to take officer Hendell. "What's up Kate?" Lanie asks once Rick and the baby leaves. "what?" I ask confused. "what's your problem with babies?" Lanie asks. "nothing" I shrug and walk away. I get into my car and lay my head against the headrest. "Why? Why does a baby have to be involved?" I ask out loud on the verge of tears. suddenly my phone rings and I answer. "Beckett" I say making sure my voice doesn't crack. "Hey we just got updated on the case" Jax tells me. "why did Gates call you guys into her office?" I ask starting the car and heading to the precinct. "She just asked what was up with the team and if there was any need to kick out Rick" he replies. "ok well Ill talk to you when I get there" I say and we say goodbye.

"Aww! He's so cute!" Jax says taking the baby from Rick. "yeah" Rick says with a smile. I look away and read the screen looking for missing baby reports. "Erica isn't he precious?" Jax asks Erica because he knows how I feel. Erica's face drops. She and I feel the same way. "yeah" she says faking a smile. Rick takes back the baby and Jax walks over to where Erica and I are sitting. "Im sorry Erica I didn't know" he whispers. "it's ok. How would you?" she says as her real smile comes back on her face. I give up back there are no reports. "Nothing" I mumble "maybe the parents are gone or gave him up?" Kevin and Javy say. I feel a pang in me chest but show nothing. "or someone did it for ransom" Jax says. "Poor little guy" Rick says. I stand up suddenly and grab my bag. I quickly walk to the girls room. I here Erica following me. I lean on the sink and run my hands over my face and leave them resting in my hair. I look over and Erica to see she has her elbows on the sink and her hands resting on her head while looking at me. We slowly stand up straight. We look at each other then hug each other. "iit's to much" Erica says. "I know!" I say back on the verge of crying. "I can't take it" Erica says as tears flow down her face. "Im gonna tell Gate I don't feel good." I say grabbing my bag and wiping her tears. "me too" she says. I hold open the door and we walk out and down the hall. We walk pass our desks and into her office. "Sir my head is banging and I already took medicine but it's not helping" I lie. "My stomach isn't holding things down" Erica says holding her stomach and turning pale. She runs out and down the hall sealing the deal. "I can't have my detectives working when sick! Go home and don't come back until you are better and that's an order!" She orders. "but sir-" I pretend to argue. "no buts now leave" she says. I walk out of the room and see Erica walking towards me. I not my head we go to our desks. I pull out my badge and gun while she does the same then we slip on our coats. "What's wrong?" The guys except Jax asks. "we are taking a break" Erica and I say. "why?" Rick asks stepping closer to me with the baby. "because Gates said so." I say as Erica and I walk to the elevator and no one asks a question.

Sorry it took long to update!!! But I'm going to try to update more since I'm on break. What's wrong with Kate & Erica? What is their problem with babies?
